Chemistry 3/4 without 1/2 :/

I really want to do chemistry next year for pre reqs and just general interest in chemistry. Is it even possible ?
The problem is i'm doing Distance Education full time due to my health. I won't have a lab or anything like that. I am defiantly capable, I get 95-100% in every exam and sac in my other subjects.

Is it just stupid to even think about doing it ? Should I just concentrate on my other 5 subjects ( Methods, Biology, Further, IT.App, English) ?

It is definitely possible to do chemistry 3/4 without 1/2 as long as you try hard and get the relevant 1/2 topics done (for instance, concepts of mole and related calculations, stoichiometry, different inter/intramolecular bonding, the list goes on). And not having lab shouldn't be a problem at VCE level. But I wouldn't suggest you to do chemistry 3/4, not because you are doing Distance Education, but since you are already doing 5 subjects and you are doing well in them, doing six 3/4 subjects in one year is too much in my opinion. Also, since you have biology already, chemistry is only needed for med and some weird courses that require 2 sciences as far as I know. However, if you really like chemistry and are willing to devote a lot of time to it, chemistry is a good and fun subject to do, but in my opinion, you should consider dropping one of you current subjects and do chemistry.

i did chem 1/2 but was a lazy year 11 (who only cared about her 3/4 subjects) and literally did nothing in class ever, had an attendance of about 50% and did not learn anything over the entire year and I found 3/4 completely fine. I spent a little time in the holidays (not much) going over really basic stoichiometry and then had to spend some time during the year learning about the different types of inter/intra molecular bonding which was assumed knowledge, but apart from that, everything else was taught again and i don't think i was at much(if any) of a disadvantage despite not having a good 1/2 background.
I also took six subjects in my last year: three maths, two englishes and chemistry, even though I didn't need to (I ended up with a total of 9 3/4s), just cause i had the opportunity to and I wanted to try out a bit of everything and learn whatever i could. it was definitely tough but it was still manageable and i regret nothing. if anything, i would've taken more if it were possible to fit it all in.

so no, i don't think it's stupid. if you actually want to do it, go ahead. and if you do a little bit of reading over the holidays, even better. :)
