Hey!

How is everyone going with their SAT? I've cooked two of my five dishes, and so far so good!

Good luck to everyone for the next month or so :)

I was just wondering if you knew how you went in your SAT yet? I have heard that some schools have been told there score already? Thanks

40/45 A+

My notes from teacher:

Notes on chocolate cakes were almost identical. Notes on tomato chutney did not include

tomato- the main ingredient and the provider of acidity!

There is no documentation of your production in progress.

Otherwise you have done a great job and should be very pleased with your work.

(I forgot to take pictures while cooking, doh!)

Yay some other food techies!! Ah well my school has this stupid policy where they don't actually give you back your folio mark out of 45, the only mark you get is what VCAA gives you when results come out for us.

Saying that though, my teacher said if we got asked to apply to top designs we would have to have about 42/45 because we have a really strong cohort and only 5 people were going to be asked to apply and one of them turned out to be me  ;) so I guess that's a bit of an indication but I'm just annoyed I will never get my numerical mark back  >:(

Yeah it is odd how it all works... I got told my Media folio mark, but my Food Tech teacher 100% refuses to tell us how we went on our folio. That worries me slightly as I don't think it went too well...!

Oh well, it's all out of your control now. Just focus on studying for the exam and getting a good mark for the exam because a good exam can bring up your sac and sat scores  :)

We where only allowed to know if we got a low, medium, high or very high! Which I don't really think is fair!!
What theme did you end up going with for your folio's??
Also if you did put your folio in have you heard anything back yet???

I did that I was a pastry chef opening up my own business as a rooftop dessert bar in Melbourne's CBD. I called it Moonlight Rooftop Patisserie  :)

What did you do for yours? I'm also also glad I've finally found some other food techies on AN!

Oh that's fantastic!

I based mine around pears.... It was a sample menu for the pear association of Victoria!

Yes so am I, we don't have a very large food tech class as school so it's nice to talk to others about it all!

My theme was berries, I used a different berry for each of the five dishes. They all went really well!

Haha is there even a Pear Association of Victoria? What items did you make? And a girl in my class did Berries too, except a few of her dishes were such an epic fail, I don't even know what went wrong!

Yeah I did end up submitting my folio. It's a pretty long shot of even getting in but even to be asked to apply is nice  :) I'm feeling pretty confident with exam preparation because its my only 3/4 this year. I'm starting to run out of practice questions, haha. I've been saving the current VCAA papers for sometime this week. How are you going with it?

Haha it's fine! All your dishes sounds amazing :)

I did..
1. Passionfruit custard soufflé
2. This thing called a caramel parfait Glace which is like peanut meringue biscuit, layered with caramel mousse, salted peanut caramel, chocolate chantilly cream and tempered chocolate plaques.
3. A three tiered red velvet cake covered in fondant
4. A deconstructed lemon curd cheesecake
5. This one I made up myself that I called a "Late Night Desouvlaki" (yes, a dessert souvlaki).
6. Churros with chocolate sauce.

I think I made my class gain a few kilos tasting all mine, haha.
