Hi all,
Don't know if I just need reassurance that I'm doing well or not but I'm curious if these marks will get me at least close to 50 assuming that I consistently improve.

Sac 1 24/25
Sac 2a 25/25
Sac 2b 21/25
Sac 3 25/25
Sac 4 37/40

Hard to definitively say. The marks required to obtain 50 for any subject can vary from year to year (i.e. based on exam difficulty, SAC moderation and such). But from the marks there, you seem to be on the right track!

Alright, thanks, I'll just work harder I guess.

It depends more on your rank than the actual marks themselves.

We're not told our ranks :/ I wish I could say I was at least up there at top 1ish.

I think with Legal and a lot of the more competitive subjects, the exams actually matter much more than SACs. I know a friend who dropped 5 marks overall in all his SACs in the whole year but ended up around dropping 20 marks in the exam and only got a 39.
But yeah, you really need a good rank for your SACs - looking at your raw marks, you are on the right track. Whether if it's enough to get a 50, no one really knows.

I dropped 5 marks in the SACs for the year and 9 on the exam and got a 36. I think Legal is way too competitive.

wasnt this because of your sacs and they were too easy or something

I was rank 1 in SACs and lost 6-7 marks on the exam and got a 43. My teacher was an examiner and said that in Legal Studies, 1 mark lost on the exam can almost always equate to 1 mark lost in the study score.

To get a 50, I think you should aim for 100% or very very close to it (maybe lose 1 or 2 marks max on the exam)

Alright, I think 100% is achievable :) Hopefully I get 50 or near 50.

Completely agree with the exam being important. I was rank 4th having dropped 10+ marks on SACs, yet got the highest score in the cohort. Exam>everything basically!

Out of curiosity, how many people in your cohort and how many marks did you drop in the exam?

Around 50-60 people, and our cohort is average strength. As for the exam, I don't have any idea, I didn't finish a couple of questions (though my results suggest the examiners thought I did), so I'd have to guess 2-3 marks maybe? If you look at the VCAA site, there's a file that shows the scores needed for an a+, I believe it was 170+ out of 180!

what happens if your cohort is of only about 13-14, and you rank second by about 2 marks, it is still possible to get a 40+?

THIS WEBSITE SHOWS YOU ALL THE STUDY SCORES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS AND HOW MANY PEOPLE RECEIVED SCORES BETWEEN 40-50
highly recommend :)

some subjects only had 7 people receiving 50's, while others had many more!

I don't know my rank for sure, but I was probably 3rd/4th in a cohort of about 35 students. I got an A on the exam and my study score was 39. My friend got an A on the exam also, he got a 41. Your SAC scores are great, keep it up and work hard to get an awesome exam score. Good luck.
