When I was in VCE I filled my preferences to 12 anticipating I'd receive my 11th preference, or what have you. @____________@ I knew a few people who only entered a couple of preferences, miscalculated their ATAR and had to enter TAFE. For example, a friend was sure would be granted entry to graphic design at RMIT and only submitted a couple of preferences. She had to enroll in Box Hill Institute despite receiving an ATAR of 70 or 80.

...But can't you add preferences after ATARs are released?

I think it's quite normal for graphic design and those fine arts type courses to require a range of criteria (e.g. folios, expression of interest forms) to be submitted earlier in the year. But otherwise... yeah you can add quite a lot of courses during Change of Preference period after ATARs come out.

edit: Oh, and there's nothing necessarily bad about TAFE. For something like graphic design, if you want a practical type course TAFEs usually end up being some of the places that offer that.

http://www.vtac.edu.au/dates.html ATARs are released 16th December, change of preference closes 23 December (12noon). They always have a change of preference week after ATARs come out, you'll get scholarship offers, unis will spam you with advertising, some open day-esque events etc. during that period.

If you couldn't change preferences after getting your results... well you can imagine how that'd screw quite a lot of people over.

Sorry, should have specified; she miscalculated the overall package of her ATAR + SEAS, and relied on the Clearly In for the year before. In addition, the year she applied for ended up being one or two points higher than the previous year, and she just missed out. TAFE can be great, but it wasn't what she wanted unfortunately. It doesn't hurt to add 6 or more options; especially as after ATARs are released, it can result in several universities on your list offering several scholarships to bribe you into swapping (keeping) them to (in) first preference, aha. I almost defected to Monash that way.

Just a reminder that timely applications close by the end of tomorrow. Make sure you've paid your fee by then. :)

These are my preferences for transfer! Honestly with my grades though I don't think I'll get in so I'll probably put some other courses on there or maybe stay with my current one.

EDIT: This is incredibly awks, I read this thread as 'Share your preferences!' :P I was wondering why I was the first person to actually post a ss
