So I'm really considering (if i get in) to go to Melbourne Uni next year, and most likely I'll have to stay on res. I was just wondering which one is the best? In terms of culture, freedom, social events, atmosphere etc
One of my teachers said one is apparently really religious (don't know if this is true) and I really don't want to end up living somewhere that is based on views I don't hold if you get me  :P

Thanks for any input  8)

Go to one of the bigger ones like Ormond/Trinity :)
Are they any good in terms of what I've listed? Also in terms of facilities etc :)

Ormond and Trinity people seem to have a habit of developing a 'holier-than-thou' attitude towards other students :/
I'm generalising, obviously, but I think that's something to keep in mind :s
(I'm at the smallest college, btw, and due to its size it doesn't have many facilities, but we get free gym memberships and we're in a more convenient location than the on-campus colleges (1 km away, next to Lygon and Victoria Street) and I can vouch for it being pretty wonderful.)
I think St. Mary's is the religious college? I'm probably wrong.

Nah, St. Mary's isn't particularly religious. You can participate in religious activities if you want, but it's definitely not compulsory. :)

I think (though I'm probably wrong also) that Newman is relatively religious?

'on res', 'in halls', 'in college', 'on campus' are all terms that are fairly common.
