The Reluctant Fundamentalist essay topic

Hi guys,
Received this essay topic with the question, "Is it unrequited love which drives Changez to turn his back on America. Discuss."
Not entirely sure how to approach this essay. One thing I'm sure about is that it is unrequited love with Erica that drives him to leave America but not sure where else to go with this.

Any help on this topic will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
