Banning of acceleration of methods

hey all
do you guys know of other schools who have stopped and/or still allow the acceleration of Maths Methods CAS 1-4 for year 10 -11 students?
My school stopped it and students (future year 10s) are outraged with this decision. Are schools across the state banning this or is it just my school?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure many schools haven't allowed it in the first place. For one, MHS has never allowed it.

Sorry for off topic post, but what is acceleration of Maths Methods? Is it just year 11 students doing 3/4 methods?

Our school still allows it and has just stuck to the same system for a decade.
Perform in the top 20 in the year 9 maths exam and you get to do methods 1/2 in year 10 if you wish.

My school adopts a similar policy to yours.  My school looks at your year nine Maths result (in particular the end of year exam) and if you're one of the top students, the school will approach you and ask you if you're interested in accelerating.

At my school, the teacher starts picking out potential candidates at the start of the year, usually based on the first test. The teacher will usually give year 10 tests and exercises to these students throughout the year.  A "B" is required on the Year 10 exam as is straight "A"s across the year 9 topics.

For us, if you were good at the first half of maths in year 7, you went on to do year 8 maths in the second half.

If they introduce accelerated maths too early isn't there risk that those who develop a bit later will miss out and fall further behind?
