I was happy with the article, until I realised by the end of the reading that there's no name given for the writer. I was left writing in the whole article with 'the leader', 'the writer', and sometimes even 'the author'. Was sort of awkward and frustrating. Overall, it was an article which could be decently analysed, nothing too hard.

Haha exactly the same here. I kept referring the author of the article 'leader of Grow Slow' and 'the writer'. It would be less frustrating if the author of the article had a name.

But even if the leader of the Slow Food group is writing the newsletter, they're still the writer??

I felt great after my language analysis portion. It has been my weak part of English all year yet I feel I did the best in it. I just addressed the write has "Grow Slow" as a entire group as nothing was specified.

Superficially, it seemed like a simple newsletter. I think that was VCAA's aim, to create a seemingly simple text. Only the very capable students would be able to draw out its complexity. Those are just my thoughts, I could be wrong.

You're right. Ye average student could look at the picture and think it encourages collaborative action. Others would say it provokes the authentic feel of nostalgia within the reader and an effective use of gender neutrality. Hopefully quality over quantity is a winner here, I didn't write nowhere near as much as I left I could

Do not quote me on this one, but, I referred to the targeted audience as environmentally-savvy people. :D

Here is a question, on the other hand. Are the VCAA looking for proper integration of quotes from the given text?

Your target audience could be correct. Whilst the newsletters were delivered to every household in the area, some people may have just thrown it out straight away. Who knows what they did with it?  :o

Well yeah, in terms of quoting, you are supposed to pick up on individual terms, phrases and words and then talk about the connotations and implications of them on the positioning of the reader.
