How do you work out Q9 for module 1?

In my crappy, non-teacher explanation.

A three-median line would be unaffected by an incorrect outlier seeing as it was the 12th piece of data. Point three on the line would be taken from between the middle of the two "middle" pieces of data (in this case, 57 and 61 for X, 0.43 and 0.45 for Y). Seeing as the change from 96 to 69 did nothing to affect this, the 3-median line remains unaffected.

Hi guys

Is everyone sure about question 9 for graphs and relations?
I don't want to say it but I think VCAA made a mistake

The 2nd revenue equation should have been R=4.5n - 600 because of the first 200 cups sold for $2.

Revenue = Cost

4.5n-300 = 500+1.3n
Therefore, n=250 for Profit to = 0 and the Break-even point

Where do you see the mistake?

Check your calculations, einseinreborn.

The first 200 cups are sold for $3.00

This question was fairly straighted foward all you needed to do was graph both equations on the CAS and find the point of interesct!

Hey Lukcko23.

Why is the 2nd revenue equation less 300? What does 300 represent? My thought was that it should have been 600 representing the 200 cups at $3.

Ok so for the Revenue equation to be a continuous function when n=200, 3n=4.5n+c

As Polopopotamus stated in his post, c=-300 as if we solve:

3*200=4.5*200+c
600=900+c
c=-300

Therefore c only represents the y-intercept needed to make the Revenue function continuous.

Hope this helps.
