Hi,

I'm pretty sure I know what Performance Review/Appraisals are, such as 360 degree feedback and checklists (are there any more) but I am not entirely sure how it could come up in a question in the exam.

On that note, I also don't understand when 'Methods of Performance Assessment' with Comparative Standards and Absolute Standards come into play, and how they could be asked.

If you could help I'd appreciate it.

yeah, for performance appraisals there is also the essay method (where employers/managers take note of all employees being appraised), the critical incident method (similar to the essay method, but records those that are really good or really bad, so it saves time). and there is also the comparison method.
A possible question could be a certain organisation wants to increase productivity, which employers believe this won't occur due to lack of  of training of employees. Identify and explain a performance appraisal method, to help relieve this issue. (hahah, the best one i can think of, apologies if lame haha)

sorry, can't help you with the third line, hopefully someone will :D

Other methods of performance appraisal include management by objective. This is where the employee is assessed of their ability to reach the objective. If they reached their objective successfully then they performed well.
Another method for performance appraisal is the critical incident method. This is when the manager only record exceptionally bad/good performance .

Oops. It seems that I did not answer your question sorry.
I actually have no idea about absolute and comparative standards my book says nothing about that.
If you don't really grasp those ones then i suggest using easier methods of appraisal.

I don't think comparative standards and absolute standards would be asked in the exams. I did bus man last year and never covered it. I could be wrong! They would probably ask you to suggest methods to review an employees performance if they are under performing and how it can assist the employer/business.

Good luck!
