I personally found it to be a fair exam, although I felt like there were a few questions that I found difficult to answer in enough detail to achieve full marks. Made a few silly mistakes though :/
Well done to everyone who finished the exam, I had completed about 16 practice exams and I only just finished it by the end.

Does anyone have any idea what sort of score would give a mid 40, given a top 3 ranking in SAC marks?

A+ at least considering in PE most of the time you can lose 20 marks and still get an A+.
For reference I was ranked 1 in my cohort in a really shit, lost about 10 marks on the exam and got 43.

What did people answer for the multi choice about the correlation between heart rate and oxygen consumption?

I put it relates to VO2 max :)

And for the bicycle initiative, I put that it does not consider the individual level (does not consider fundamental motor skills or age, or just the skill to ride a bike (yes, that exists, I struggle to ride a bike...)), considers the physical environment, but not very well (what if someone doesn't own a bike?) and does not consider policy (does not give funding and does not reward students for participating). Not sure if all of that is 100% correct, but I purposely left it so it was the second last question I answered.

I struggled with the question after that, the one about actual VO2 max and assuming VO2 max? Were they different perhaps because the test used to assume VO2 max (i.e. beep test) would be more specific to one individual than the other?

But overall, not a bad exam. Definitely not NEARLY as hard as last year's exam, although I found some MC questions a bit iffy... And is it just my shocking memory, or was there no sports psychology again?

I said vO2 max is relative to body weight (mL/min/kg) so although the 2 individuals absolute vO2 max are the same, there is a difference in the individual's weights.

Oh damn! That makes more sense than my answer, hahahaha. And would totally explain why they put what VO2 max is measured in as well. Oops!

I wrote that it is expressed in body weight because different body sizes have different energy demands, acceptable?

in my opinion, question 5 is d, 8 is d, 14 is b and i'm really confident with those looking back again

Yeah I would say 5 was D, 8 was D and 14 is quite a tricky one. I would on first instinct go for b which is that the anaerobic systems provide the extra ATP. But option C says the body must work in oxygen debt which is the anaerobic systems to provide ATP and then need more oxygen post exercise to restore oxygen levels and remove fatiguing products.
Interesting what lex says about this question.

Thought 5 was B.

nvm, WADA website : "In order to detect potential patterns of abuse, nicotine has been placed on WADA’s 2012 Monitoring Program."

I really hope they do honour B. What a shit question. Who would look on the WADA website to know the answer. I mean, they could be testing to see if it had any benefits to an athlete. B seemed reasonable.

I did too until I read the last 5 words in green, 50/50 choice, glad it was right  :)

I wrote 5) A
            8) D
          14) B

Question 5 was the one I was confused about. The rationale is to detect, deter and enforce. So likely it would not be B or C... How do VCAA expect you to know this? =_='

"nicotine has been placed on WADA’s 2012 Monitoring Program." - both are right then I guess. Happened last year with the coca cola/diuretic question.
