Callum,

I also took Business Management 3/4 in Year 11. I didn't get a 50 for Business, so take this all with a grain of salt, but:

Firstly, never give up. I was told a few weeks before the exam that the highest score that I could realistically achieve would be a ~42. I ended up with a 48. So my first piece of advice is this: trust yourself, and believe in yourself. My SAC scores were pretty bland (though I did have the #1 rank, which is important), but my exam performance must have been decent. I guess the point here is that SAC results, whilst important, are difficult to use to estimate study scores. My brother had much better SAC results than me, but achieved a lower study score.

In hindsight, I didn't study particularly effectively - I studied a lot, but not well. So my second piece of advice is to try to get on to practice exams as soon as you're familiar and confident with the content. In fact, perhaps even earlier. There's no harm in doing practice exams more than once.

48 in Business is the highest I know of at your school (though, this may have (and hopefully has) changed in the last year or two). But there is absolutely no reason that you can't beat it. Possibly the biggest mistake that I made in Year 11 was not aiming for a 50, so you're already ahead of where I was.

Best of luck!

EDIT:
And I don't disagree with this post apart from the "you should be devoting countless nights studying" bit. If you study effectively, you won't need to be spending countless nights studying. Studying too much is highly counter-productive to the ultimate goal (a study score of 50 in your case), especially if it comes at the cost of sleep.
After 2 Sacs, I have rank #1 and 98% average, so I think i'm doing ok so far to get that goal, but nevertheless the sacs were quite simple. What time would you recommend that I start practice exams? I have heard it's a good idea to start Unit 3 only exams towards mid term 2. I have hard subjects but at the same time quite good dedication to studying and getting ahead.

There were heaps of schools there actually. I think it ran yesterday as well, so some schools went then.

Doing it all throughout the week. Something like 20 schools a day?

Sounds like you're smashing it! :)

The practice exam question is a good one, but a tough one to answer. I didn't do any Unit 3 exams, but I quite like the idea. I guess you could start working on those whenever you feel fit; it's not like you will lose knowledge by coming across a question that you don't know how to answer. In fact, it might give you a good insight into what you still need to learn.

But in terms of full exams, I would probably start some time in Term 3. In Year 12, I really ramped it up in the Term 3/Term 4 holidays but, in hindsight, I would probably have started a little earlier for Business (considering that I did it in Year 11).

All the best. :)

i dropped 2.5 marks total in the year for business, 197.5/200 is roughly 99% average, ended up with 46 and 3 marks of 50. Could say that exam didnt go my way but just keep trying, my lowest sac was 2 mark loss on the first one (didnt do 1/2 so went in with no structure), keep persisting and keep trying. If you don't get 50, you will be able to get 45, 98% is great average so far, and already 2 sacs (2 aos's?) down, thats pretty quick!

Too keen, too keen.

Nah I haven't; mainly just practice SACs and exam questions but not a fully-blown exam :p

Have you?

Nope I'm just doing practice SACs, tests from commercial papers split by topics and so forth before doing a fully-fledged practice exam (closest to finishing so far is Chemistry for Unit 3).

Today we had our Chemistry SAC (worth 50% of Unit 3) for 70 minutes and we were all pressed for time to finish which was kind of stressful (really hope I did well on this one considering the 'hardness' of the SAC felt by our cohort).
