Anyone ranting here know if their SACs will be audited? Hopefully, VCAA will give your teachers a slap on the wrist.

Hey guys, what happened to the message function? :S
Change of servers so message function is currently disabled!
Link here: Can't send PMs

It's really unfortunate, but I feel that VCAA-organised assessments are far too costly. Imagine the scheduling horror of organising a date where every student in the state doing that subject had to sit it on multiple occasions?
That's why they got rid of mid-year exams since it was very costly to run employing assessor's and whatnot >.<

Pretty sure all schools get audited at some point though for my school with Specialist, they've omitted Cross Product and anything else uni-math related from our SACs when learning vectors LOL (SACs are still hardcore as ever though...)

Hey guys, just barging in to say, yes, it's INFURIATING sometimes.  SACs are a hideous system open to horrible abuse, mainly in the less prestigious schools.

But this is the way it is, it's too expensive and impossible to have VCAA mark everything - think of their ridiculous security levels!  If they were writing, delivering and marking SACs/more exams, they'd have to have everything done courier post, supervisors, rules to the nth degree, incident reports if people just needed an extra sheet of paper, at least 2 markers per paper, etc.  So instead, they delegate it to schools - so they can get away with ABSOLUTELY NO security, consistency or fairness.  Yeah, the system's corrupt.  But spend an afternoon studying the Indian education system, and you will come out jumping for joy that you get VCAA.  So you've gotta live with it.  (Interestingly, my grandma said their assessment was one externally marked exam per term, so 4 total, in the exhibition building.)

Have you talked to your teachers about it though?  Like, be subtle.  'What exactly did you mean with this question?  I couldn't figure out what it meant on the SAC, because the words seemed /just a bit/ funny, could you help me out with how to interpret it? *hint hint* I'm pointing out it was hopeless, pls rethink how you marked it and DON'T DO IT AGAIN OR I WILL HUNT YOU DOWN'.  Or, if you're their blue-eyed boy, you can even talk about it directly (don't 'complain', just 'discuss' ;)).  Anyway, your aim with SACs is to beat the system.  Like, if you know they use VCAA questions, why not grab that golden opportunity!  It's not cheating per se, it's just being logical and opportunistic :P.  Based on their past weird methods, try to figure out as close as possible what sort of things the teacher is likely to put on the SAC, and study up for that.

But remember: if your hard study seems utterly wasted now, it WILL boost your exam mark.  People who scramble successfully through SACs without understanding the content will fall before you when you dominate the exam.  Not that SACs aren't important, but especially in maths subjects, the exam is MORE important.  And you 100% control how you go in the exam.

Alternatively, save up your pocket money to buy a stuffed toy donkey, and call it the name of your teacher.   After every bad SAC, whack it with sticks, jump up and down on it, tear its ears off &c. &c.  (Depending on how bad your teacher is, you may have to purchase a few through the course of the year).

Agree with the advice above.

From my experience with year 12 so far , it's not about how hard or how much you study, it's about how much you can game the system.

Holy shit!!

Last night I had a dream that I missed the English exam and I woke up really shaky, kinda freaking out.

Then I realized I completed VCE 2 years ago.

I don't know much about how our brain works, but I guess my brain is still considers VCE a threat ahaha
Dude before my exam last year I kept having dreams where I would like forget my pen in the exam, and just sit there freaking out instead of just asking for a pen ahah

This is absolutely golden.

Also I had part 1 of my methods apps sac. Now I know what the fuss is all about. Do you think I can take lube into the 2nd part tomorrow as my bound reference because I think it will do me more justice than my notes will?

There's many ways you could "motivate" them I suppose. Personally, I'd talk about what the future holds for Year 7's in general being realistic with them in terms of education and how our world is changing and all. Money is what drives the world these days and university degrees cost heaps (if one chooses to pursue it) so placing strain on your family would be harsh so getting a scholarship would help out heaps so better study now! Having fun now is crucial but ultimately one must look into the future and see what they can do now to set themselves up for a better life.

If that doesn't suit you then try and think when you were back in Year 7. If I were in Year 7 again, I'd like to hear something meaningful to be taken away from listening to such speeches so rather than be generic as such, be frank with them and motivate them in such a way that is superficial or anything.

Good luck!

If it seems scary then don't worry about it too much I suppose! Audience-wise, you'll have people who think Year 7 is a bludge anyway or are too busy living in the "moment" as such but I think exposing them to what is to come in later years is a good since it's different and it allows you to be personal (so maybe not about university but how you're coping with Year 12 and all and your experiences throughout school and what you wished you could have done in Year 7 I guess).

The awkward moment when you're sick and coughing during a sac, annoys the teacher and wastes valuable sac time telling you to go outside for a bit
