Okay what the heck.

Long story short, I got accepted into both Extension Maths (Melb Uni) and Extension Chemistry (Monash) earlier this year. However, I decided to withdraw from Extension Maths and emailed the Student Officer in charge; this was back in March. So that was all done and dusted... or so I thought.

Having just logged into the Melb Uni Student Portal, I was surprised to see that I was still enrolled in the subject (MAST10013). Not only this, but clicking on 'view my results' has revealed that I have (surprisingly :O) failed the subject.

Obviously this shouldn't be a worry since I've completed Extension Chemistry. However, is there the slightest chance that VTAC may take the result form UniMelb and not Monash?? It's probably too late either way given results are tomorrow.... :(

Ugh.

Edit: also, I had received an email back saying that I had been withdrawn successfully, which makes it all the more confusing.

grannysmith, what does it say under grade? Provided that you withdrew before the deadline, the subject shouldn't appear at all on the results page of the portal. It is probably worth speaking to the student centre about this at some point (perhaps once semester starts next year), as a fail will remain on your transcript. That said, even if the subject is listed as a fail by mistake, it shouldn't affect your result tomorrow. In the past, there have been people who did two extension subjects for the kicks. VCAA will simply take your primary four and 10% of your next two best subjects; no credit is received for a failed subject so it won't be taken into account at all, whereas your score for chemistry will definitely be taken into account.

And of course, best of luck to everyone receiving ATARs and/or study scores tomorrow! I have a feeling you will all smash the predictions that you gave in the other thread! :)

Guys, you're just stressing about one ATAR, here I am stressing my head off about at least 20 ATARs for my friends, students and you guys :P  That's ridiculous, but I'm seriously feeling jumpy tonight on your behalfs even though I know how unimportant ATARs actually are ::)

I've seen your efforts and your awesomeness throughout this journey this year, and from the bottom of my heart I just want to wish you all the best.

Also want to say that no matter what, it's okay to feel however you feel tomorrow.  I remember that despite my exhilaration over my scores, by afternoon I was feeling more depressed and 'empty' than I had been the whole year through and just burst into tears - everything was over, there was nothing left to wait for.  Let it all out, no matter how you feel, and don't feel bad if it takes some time to get over.  If you've invested anything in this, tomorrow will be a weird day, an emotional roller coaster, so just take it as it comes.

You rock, guys.  Nothing's going to change that.  It's been an awesome year, and I'm glad I was able to share some of it with you, so thanks!

Hi guys,
Just wanted to say a big congratulations on coming this far, we've worked so hard throughout the year, through the exam period, and also have had our patience severely tested by the weeks between exams and results :P
So no matter what your ATAR/SS ends up to be, your efforts have been amazing and inspirational <3.

Hello, sorry for hijacking this thread, but I noticed that we're less than one day out from results, stress is running at an all-time high and just wanted to share my story to maybe put everything into perspective.

Up to a week before, i'd be constantly stressing about what i'll get for results, being unable to sleep, unable to do anything. The anticipation turned me into a nervous wreck, parents weren't helping too much with it, telling me I need to repeat if i don't get close to 50.

Come Thursday, mum received a phone call, turned into a nervous wreck. My beloved grandfather was always in hospital for the past few months receiving treatment for his medical condition, but his condition turned critical on Thurs night. We booked the next available flight to China, leaving this afternoon. We always knew there was a chance we couldn't make it on time, but we never believed it. We didn't make it on time. What this experience showed me was that, despite the importance i placed on VCE, it is only when i've experienced something far more important that I can start to comprehend how little it means.

Year 12s, your ATAR might mean everything to you right now, your parents might be ready to give you verbal beatdown, but deep down they love you and only want the best for you. There's far more to life than these numbers that pop up in the form of 'Study Scores'. Embrace and cherish what we've got right now :)

Hi Jammin,
Bit of a late reply, but I'd like to offer my sincere condolences, I've lost both my grandfathers so I know what it feels like and I can empathise. Thanks for sharing your story with us all. It really illustrates how unimportant VCE is in the big picture of life - life's not over if you missed out on a high 40. But a life of a loved one or a friend is that fragile and can be lost forever by a single fateful phone call - hold on to what you have with all you've got. Make the most out of your opportunities but also out of the most important relationships you have. Reflecting on my year, I believe I have marginalised many relationships in a way I probably shouldn't have in the 'mad rush' towards exams.

Again, deepest sympathy :'(
Stephen

Popping in to wish you all the best of luck ~
If you guys are extra keen beans over seeing your ATAR, I vaguely remember last year you could access your results online minutes before the official scheduled time. They may be on the dot this year but eh, it's only by a few minutes so nbd.

I'm so sorry for your loss :(

All I can say is try (you'll probably feel like it's impossible, but that's okay for now) to stay strong. That being said, take all the time you need to grieve and come to terms with what's happened. It will take time, but just have faith that time heals all wounds. It may take a month, or even a year, but it will subside. My thoughts are with you.

Good song that you might like. It helped me heaps when I needed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2YgwN6P_7E

by afternoon I was feeling more depressed and 'empty' than I had been the whole year through and just burst into tears - everything was over, there was nothing left to wait for.  Let it all out, no matter how you feel, and don't feel bad if it takes some time to get over.  If you've invested anything in this, tomorrow will be a weird day, an emotional roller coaster, so just take it as it comes.

Fuck that's deep (but oh so relateable). It's like like the end of an existentialist story :') the hero(ine) thinks they've reached their destination, but then realises that it was the journey that mattered all along, not the destination. She falls to her knees, gazes meaningfully (or meaninglessly?) into the dying sunset and weeps. Fin.

I'm not checking my result till I get home from work :/ ahahaahaha

Exact same here - gonna creep out of the house at 6:55AM, get to work and come back in the arvo to check lol
