Well sorry 2016/17ers we're back in the fold!

Been sorta drowning under the immense expectations of uni assignments (one's worth 35% of my semester grade and i've gone through it 6 times already...)

But Uni life is pretty fab from my point of view, so much freedom and time to pursue activities that i'm interested in :D As for courses i'm at UoM (BCom)

Uni life is good but I think the only challenge is that you go through content a lot faster than in VCE so if you neglect work for a little while then you could be struggling to catch up for weeks (me oops)

Time constraints not difficulty are definitely the issue for me since I don't have a day off during the week  8)

any advice on time management guys? O.o

I'm doing intro to micro next semester, how would you rate the subject? Boring/interesting? Hard/easy?

Yes! Resurrected.

Yeah, uni workload is pretty full on, but for some reason I'm not stressed out like I was in VCE. That being said, the procrastination monkey still hasn't disappeared...

Hey Tasha. I'm doing Micro at Monash, so it would be different to what is taught at UoM, but I'll give it a go anyway!

At the moment, Microeconomics is my favourite subject. That's because it is extremely well taught, has heaps of resources tailored to the course and so on (Weekly quizzes with detailed answers, YouTube videos made my the lecturer, slideshows and so on). The subject itself is really interesting as its something that you could use/think about when making transactions and whatnot. Demand and Supply etc. It's a very straight forward and logical, and kinda easy to understand after doing a few practice problems. For the most part, the questions in the subject are pretty straightforward, and they don't try to trick you like in VCE, this is true across all my subjects.

Although I'm loving uni, I miss school a lot ( vibes, cohort and the rare inspiring teacher that changes your life). But yeah, as Hamo94 said there are lot of opportunities out there to pursue things you are interested in. I'm finding the balance between studies and co-curriculars manageable (I go to uni everyday) but that's probably because I have no social life (I incorporate my social life into my other commitments haha).

thanks Orson! I'd imagine it's pretty similar at UoM, I'm hoping I'll be okay though since maths isn't my thing but I'm definitely interested in the subject

I miss school too :( It sounds sad but I probably miss my favourite teachers the most. It was cool having people that knew you for a while and genuinely cared about your future/gave insightful advice
Of course I have my family, friends etc for support but it's not the same if you get what I mean? It's not like I'm going to have a conversation with my lecturers :s

I'm exactly the same. Not stressed at all but I really should be since I want to do graduate study... Idk why I've become complacent, it's kinda like "yeah you got into your course dw about it now"

Yeah. Don't worry. it's not a very mathsy subject. Most of the questions are 'increase or decrease' kind of questions (mostly theory/understanding), and even if they do have math, at most its basic addition.

Yeah. I just asked my dad what kind of calculus I would have to do if I majored in Finance, and he was like, there is no calculus...

I'm so surprised...

That feeling when you've used up all your freedom to pursue activities that you're interested in LOL :')

Yeah that's been like that for me too where I'm generally meeting people through other commitments as well as support classes as well as uni-related events (Monash Minds anybody)?

Also shameless plug but anybody doing Commerce or doing microeconomics should consider signing up for the ESSA Public Policy Case Competition!

Drop it if you can, lectures are sub-par, assignments are dreadfully ambiguous at times.

I'm probably speaking from a really biased viewpoint since I just spent my entire weekend on the latest micro assignment.

If you want something commerce-y, try finance 1 instead :).
If you're just looking for a breadth and don't care tooo much about your WAM, take up wellbeing, motivation and performance, it's fantastic!

Yeah. I just asked my dad what kind of calculus I would have to do if I majored in Finance, and he was like, there is no calculus...

Not much calculus, mainly is just applying various mathematical formulae in various situations :)
