Thanks
, chem 1/2 sighs...
Does anyone have any more 1/2 exams?
I have methods tomorrow
Exams next week, feels like all my motivation has disappeared after my 3/4

Seems like most other school's have already finished 1/2s while I'm just starting.
I need some thoughts...
I did year 11 this year, and am considering doing year 12 over two years. There are a few reasons for this:1. I'm a year younger (skipped a year of middle primary school) and 2. I walked out of my first (and only, Revs in case you're wondering) 3/4 exam feeling that I screwed up, even though my SAC grades throughout the year were respectable. I feel that doing year 12 over two years would give me more breathing space if I did really badly in Revs. Some people in my school have done this in the past, but I haven't spoken to anyone about it yet.
If I go through with this plan, I'll be doing Methods 3/4, Spesh 3/4 and Economics 3/4 next year and English 3/4, Chemistry 3/4, Philosophy 3/4 and maybe Health 3/4in the following year. I did those subjects this year apart from Health. I'm relatively confident in Methods, Economics, Philosophy and English as I'm averaging (97-100%) in those subjects in a selective school and did Spesh 3/4 with a tutor outside of school. I'm understand the content in Spesh and got alright grades for the most part (high 80%s) although I could have done much better but I messed up the Dynamics test (44%) and end of year exam (like I left 1/3-1/2 of the exam blank because I got really nervous and it was the day after my 3/4 exam). In Chemistry, my grades have been really up and down (ranges from like 30% on one to 100% on the other), as my school set really hard SACS (with a sizeable failure rate and averages of 65%). Most of the year level, including me left portions of the Chem exam blank
.
If I choose to do year 12 just over next year I'll be doing Methods, Spesh, Economics, English and Chemistry (dropping Philosophy). I'm just really scared because I want to do my best but I got mental breakdowns throughout the year because I want to do my best and get really disappointed when I didn't do as well as I could've done.
Please give me advice and thanks for reading.
I second the idea that perhaps spending two years to do Year 12 could have negative repercussions, especially if you're going to repeat 1/2 subjects it may get very boring. There's also the issue that everyone in your year will graduate while you'll be staying for another. Although it probably depends on whether you have good friends in the year below you, it might be weird when most of the people you know are starting Uni next year.
Going to a competitive school plus having parental pressure can really put things out of perspective, especially when it seems like others effortlessly ace their tests. The best thing is to probably consider what course you want to do after you graduate and set your goals towards that. If the requirement for that course is 92.75 then aim for that, don't get caught up in comparing how you're going against others. Don't worry about your Year 11 result, one of the main reasons people do a 3/4 in Year 11 is to experience the exam situation of VCE exams, even then, you don't even know if you screwed up at all. Often our own extraordinary high expectations see the worst in everything we do.
Good luck in Chem!
