May have been asked before but what are you guys putting down? I have barely thought about it haha

Also what happens if we don't enter our preferences? Can we do it after our results come out (obviously this doesn't apply to med) because first round offers don't come out until January?

Commerce at UoM (chancellors) -1
and normal Commerce -2

School tells us to pick at least 5 preferences
Careers counsellor gonna have a mad crack at me when she finds out
Might put bachelor of garbage collection (honours) as my next preference topkek

When registering for account, what is supposed to be your student number? Is there a way we can find this or do we get it from our school?
You'll have to find it out from your school

So we need to make a separate preference for Chancellor Scholars?

I thought you get an automatic offer if you got 99.90+.

I want to apply for it, but I don't know if I can get 48+ for English and 46+ for Spesh.

Not sure, but it's an option and has its own course code so I put it in just to be safe

Now I think about it, I'm pretty sure you automatically get an offer with 99.90

Can you elaborate on that Pi? I'm not 100 percent sure how it does

Gives your ATAR the same boost as it would for any Monash course. Just doesn't boost your UMAT or Interview scores.

You gotta put it in your preferences. But given your preferences aren't locked in until 5 days after results day, you can change it then

Something I posted a while back that should now be relevant to you all:
All you need to know on VTAC accounts (and some stuff in advance):
    • Yeah, VTAC accounts open in mid-August. Your school will somehow notify you of it.
      My Experience
Mine was kinder and told us at least thrice that it was open, by the Careers teacher invading on our assemblies AND had a session specifically to create accounts. Probably also helped that my home group teacher was the Careers teacher.
    • It's open until the week before Christmas usually or thereabouts, but shuts during exams ('cause it's a 'distraction'). I'm pretty sure VCAA has this on their website and/ or on the exam timetable booklet thing they issue out. (I forgot its name. I think that shows.) Also, should be on VTAC's website soon, if not already.
    • You get a maximum of 12, yeah, twelve preferences. Minimum is 4 (I think, or at least, that was how many my friend had.), most have 6 - 8, from what I recall. Each can be switched into your desired order and will be listed as "Science (Monash University, Clayton)" or something similar, using my current degree (and first preference) as an example.
    • Don't worry. You'll get sufficient warning. Again, don't worry too much about it.

    And a couple more...
    For the beginner:
    • There's a ~$29 fee. (It may have changed.) Fee may increase if you don't pay it within a certain time frame (about 2-3 months, if I remember correctly. Plenty of time, though.). Pay it on time, guys. Save your teachers the hassle. (Also, it's using card or cheque.)
    • Preferences go through the account, as do your courses and your ATAR. *cue scary music* This'll actually be a secondary source for getting it; they'll be another link on the VTAC website. You also put scholarship, Special Consideration, medical, personal and other details through the account, including those of whether your 40+ SS should get published.
    • Watch the inbox of that account from time to time. Give them the correct details as well and double check.
    • Majority of it is pretty self explanatory, so you'll figure it out easily. If not, stake out your Careers Advisor/ teachers/ whatever point of call you usually go to, but not your pets. They're not really going to help.

Oh and if you're still worried about preferences, wait 'til Open Day and/ or until COP (Change of Preference) Week is here. The latter is the same week you get your ATARs, so keep that week free to wreck havoc on the city, whilst crying about your ATAR (Just kidding. It won't be that bad.) join the crowd of students who decided to flock to various tertiary institutions with hope that you'll be a student there some day.

EDIT: A couple of extra points:
    • SEAS: If you're looking into this, it increases your ATAR by a few points, however, don't solely rely on this for a crazy increase amount. Many people in the state will find this only goes up by a very limited amount (case-dependent, usu. a couple of points).
    • RC Courses: If anyone's considering a course with an interview, folio, etc., don't neglect exams in case. Still treat your interview/ folio/ whatever like you would with other assessment - with caution and (a sliver of) confidence.

I was playing around with it and I saw that some of the Monash courses and I saw something about subject bonuses??
Like what is that, do they like 'bump' your ATAR up by a couple of points if you meet that bonus requirement??

Also, is there any way you can 'save' your preferences???
I have no idea how the VTAC system works :(
Subject bonuses: individually will increase ATARs per course. e.g. ATAR: 90.00. If you fulfil the requirements, you get the designated points. Some state that you have to get a 35 in your English subject (excludes EAL) and you'll receive 2 points. Then for that course, you add 2 to your ATAR i.e. 92.00. There will likely be a maximum. Obviously, you can't exceed the maximum. e.g. "maximum of 8 points" = max. ATAR if enough subject bonuses are completed will be 98.00 in our example. (NB: This is course specific. e.g. you could still get bumped up into the list of students who got into that course. if you fulfilled more subject bonuses compared to someone else who didn't - assume there are too many students and everyone has the clearly-in ATAR for the course)
I believe this was once known as "middle band subjects", just like the ATAR was once the ENTER. If I don't make sense, I'll post it more clearly another day or you could just search. There's lots of posts about this.
Saving preferences: There should be a submit button at the bottom? If not, ask the Careers teacher/ advisor/ whoever you usually discuss this with.

So we need to make a separate preference for Chancellor Scholars?
You do, but preferences aren't locked for about 4 months for you guys. It's still open after you receive your results.

When registering for account, what is supposed to be your student number? Is there a way we can find this or do we get it from our school?
You use your VCAA (or exam) number to register, but take off the letter. i.e. use the numbers only. It should be on your school ID card or somewhere. Ask your VCE coordinator or whoever you usually go to for help if you don't know this. [/list]

Had a stroke of luck and found my card label from the GAT which had my student number, and i made my account. Just one more question about the course application. You make a single course application that involves you listing your education history etc. and you end up paying for the application at the end. And after you make this course application you can then go ahead and fill out your preferences and submit SEAS applications and whatever else? Thanks

More or less that's the overall process (see here; VTAC has instructions). Make an account by putting in your details, pay, add details such as preferences, SEAS and scholarship applications, change preferences a billion times if you want. (You can choose to pay later, I think. Just make sure it's before the deadline - preferably a few days before at latest, due to the bank processing time and what not.)
