Could someone who knows how VCAA likes to break down questions PLEASE tell me how the 3 marks would be allocated for that copper question, I'm already kicking myself enough as it is, that I got the perfect answer, then crossed it out to change it to something else :'( BUT the working for the initial parts is there so I'm hoping for 2/3 on this *fingers crossed* I can't believe I had the right answer  :'(

Can i ask you this... does finding out what marks you got out of 3 really bring back your exam or even amend your mistakes? Do you really think it will change anything. what is done... is done. Take pride in the fact you did the best you could, otherwise you're living in the past which is only holding you down. If you're finished with exams good. if not then focus on the others. But for god's sake do not worry  about whats not in your hands.

That's true, but I spent almost a year studying for this exam and I want an answer to a question, I didn't ask for moral support lol.

Don't you think that's a little too blunt? Could have thanked them for their advice and support, but just said you're curious... They're just trying to be supportive...

Enough of this guys; Edward21 is perfectly entitled to seek out an answer to put his mind at ease, and he's at liberty to approach it however he pleases. Regardless, this is not the place to be discussing this particular matter. Back to discussing the exam please.

I guess it was blunt, but at the same time I asked a direct question on the Chem Examination Discussion board, of course I realise I can't change things now but a life lesson on "living in the past" was definitely unnecessary. This whole thread is dedicated to answer queries after the exam, we all know nothing can change from here, we just want to know whether we were right, or wrong; is that too much to ask? haha

To be honest I don't think you were blunt I understand the anxiety of finding things out later. Do ill try to answer your question since I am not 100% sure but I think there's 1 mark for calculating mass chane another for showing you divide it by total mass and another for correct answer.

In question 9, where you had to use the proton NMR, the infra red and the mass spec., did your analysis have to be able to pinpoint ethyl ethanoate as the molecule or could you say parent peak shows molecular mass of 88 consistent with ethyl ethanoate and so on?
Careful there. The spectrum shows something with a mass-to-charge ratio of 88, which we infer is [CH3COOCH2CH3]+. (Not that the VCAA will care too much about this in this case, I don't think.)

Regardless, I'm not sure if the VCAA will accept that, since we already know the "unknown organic compound"'s molecular formula (given to us in the stimulus). Bit on the fence - depends how lenient the VCAA will be.

Do you guys reckon that getting a low A+ combined with high sac ranking at a good school would get you a 40?

Yep - I think you'd be looking at around 41-43.

Connect Education answers suggest that 87.3% is the purity, I was 100% it was 80.1.

It'd be stiff to mark us down, how many people would have talked about fragmentation?
