Posting etiquette during results period

As some of you might be aware, the release of VCE results draws ever closer. During this time it is important to remember that some members may be feeling quite stressed and anxious, which is completely understandable. ATAR Notes has always prided itself on being a caring community, a group of friends behind your computer screen, if you like. However, recently we’ve seen some less-than-beneficial comments being made in posts which can really do damage to one’s morale and even their mental health.

As an example, there was recently a post joking about suicide following release of results. As well-intentioned as these jokes may be, this is a reminder that comments such as this are NOT on. We on the moderation team consider these types of posts to be extremely distasteful and potentially harmful to our member base. From this point forward, there will be a zero-tolerance policy being enforced by our moderation team towards any posts of this nature. As usual, this policy will also extend to obviously boastful posts and any general trolling as per our forum and posting rules.

Furthermore, as us moderators can’t be everywhere all the time, if you do come across a post that you may think is harmful, we’d encourage you to report them using the "Report to moderator" link at the lower right hand corner of the post.

To users who may be feeling a bit down either now or in the next few days, PLEASE seek professional assistance from any of the organisations listed here.

On behalf of the moderator team, best of luck for Monday and we hope you guys can help us to maintain the ATAR Notes caring environment :)

Remember that when you post, you're talking to real people. While it's easy to think of posters as anonymous, faceless beings, we are a community of actual living, breathing human beings with varying emotions and sensitivities. It's important that whenever you say something you consider not only what it means to you, but also what it could mean to others on this forum, and adjust your behaviour accordingly to ensure that everyone feels welcome and supported.

A reminder to all forum users that everything that has been outlined in the original post of this thread will be applied throughout the duration of time in which VTAC offers are being released, so please be on your best behaviour.

Additionally, on behalf of the ATARNotes moderation team we would like to wish you the best of luck and hope that you receive the offer you desire. In the case you don't, stay positive because as you know there are always alternative pathways to getting to where you want to be :)

As a new natmod, I'm still learning how to do natmod stuff like bans. Offers release is a stressful time, just like results - so if you don't act tactfully and on your best behaviour you gon' be target practice for my banhammer :)

Best wishes to all, and please take a look at How university works tomorrow if you have any specific questions about university life.
