ehh my bet would be 45.

I don't think it would hurt repeating as you already did 3 3/4s in Yr 11.. (great scores btw  ;D)
If you were to repeat it again... are you confident that you are going to score higher? If you can push methods into your bottom 2.... (by the look of your other 2 scores, I think it would be quite easy..) it won't matter that much. You also can't guarantee that this years scaling will be as high as 2013....
IF you don't repeat it... I guess you have 3 subjects only you fill have soo many frees  and a lot of time to try ace them.... (esp english as its super important)

It's your decision in the end. I don't think you can go wrong with whatever option you go with.

Yeah, I just want to aim for a really high ATAR and I'm scared that a 38 in Methods isn't enough to get me where I want. But if I don't repeat Methods I can put more time and effort into my other 3 subjects and risk not getting an as high ATAR if it is the Methods that drags me down? It is kind of confusing, but I have high expectations and I want to try get 99.9+, which I know is extremely difficult :)
2013 Raw Scores: 41 Chinese SL. 48 Biology. 40 Methods Methods
2014 Raw Scores: 43 Chemistry. 42 English. 39 Specialist Maths

ATAR: 99.45 :)

I don't think doing 3 subjects is a particular good idea. Too much free time means complacency, at least for me. I don't think there's any harm doing 4 next year. If you feel like methods is worth repeating and you won't be bored doing it again, then go for it. 38 is by no means a bad score, especially considering scaling, but yeah, if you're going for 99.9+ I completely understand wanting to redo it. You might want to consider picking up a new subject though, maybe an English if that's your thing (worst case scenario: it simply isnt counted at all).

english is..definitely not my thing and I will really need to put a lot of effort into that this year. I enjoyed Methods and I think I could do it again because I know I messed up in the exam and I know I put a lot of effort into it last year. If I redo Methods, hopefully it won't be as stressful because I'm not learning completely new concepts or anything too hard. But yeah, my English definitely needs some work. What do you mean it isn't counted at all?

Let's see what you need. 48 in bio, a 50 ish in Chinese and a 44 in Methods. Now you want a 99.90 so by last year's standards you'd need an aggregate of over 208.2 I think. If you get a 50 in chem, spesh and English, that'll be 155 to your aggregate. Add your Chinese score and you have 205. Add your bio and methods scores as increments and you're over 212 which is enough for 99.95.

You don't really need a 50 in chem though; go for the high scores in English and spesh because those two will determine your ATAR. If you're a person who needs lots of time to learn stuff like English and spesh, just stick with three  subjects. Only do Methods if you think you can beat your Chinese score with it.

That said you'd have had 6 subjects in year 11 and now 3. That IS a bit little.

Guys will methods ever scale down like 3-4?  Cause in 2015 if it scales by that much ill lose the plot!  Is it consistently scaling up by 5+?

If we do predict ATARs for 2014 do you think we should be using 2012 aggregate to ATAR?
(Due to methods scaling this year which is unlikely to happen next year... the aggregates required this year for 99.9+ (2013) were high...)

A bit out of place, but does anyone have the aggregate to ATAR PDF for 2012?

I doubt methods will scale down. That  would be ridiculous.

It's 2014 right now, so last year = 2013

Just google aggregate to ATAR VCE 2013 and you'll find it.

The aggregate requirements were increased last year presumably because of Methods scaling.

I think you mean scale up 4-5?
;D Yes. That is the norm.

Because getting 50 in Chem, Spesh and English is so likely haha. I reckon my English would be 40-45 at my best, anything higher will be a miracle. That is why I'm so nervous about the whole thing because I'm worried I will do well in all my subjects except English, which will ultimately fail my ATAR and screw it over :(
