All are technically correct vis-à-vis carrots and photosynthesis, though the clincher was definitely the fact that they're underground and probably can't photosynthesise. It's technically incorrect to suggest that carrots don't have the pigments. They have β-carotene, which can absorb light.

If the pigment can absorb light, then aren't the carrots technically photosynthesising?

Not sure to be honest. There could be other reasons that the carrot itself (not the leaves) would have beta-carotene. Unfortunately, I don't know what they are.

Hey guys is it still achievable to get a 40+ SS with a unit 3 Sac average of a B+?

I was sitting on a "B+ average" for most of Unit 3, so I'd say you're fine.

I thought the and would be d :( i know the and is e and how they got to that, but can someone please explain why it can't be a or d?

a)is wrong because there are other types of lipids (ie. phospholipids , which are sometimes called diglycerides ,  that are in the membrane and steroids that are cholesterols )
d) is wrong because remember  lipids are NOT polymers. Polymers are made up of smaller repeated sub-units monomers, but lipids are not made of monomers.Instead they are  made of glycerol+fatty acids and thus cannot be polymers.

its says that carbohydrates can be used to transport stored energy within a complex organism? Can someone please explain how and what they mean by that?

its says glucose is an example, but i thought it would be the source of stored energy, how does it transport energy?

You can move glucose around the body, thus transporting glucose is transporting the stored energy.

You can move glucose around the body, thus transporting glucose is transporting the stored energy.

Also, glucose generally isn't a form in which energy is stored. It's generally stored a glycogen (in the liver.)

c. Nucleus
d. Mitochondria
e. Microtubules

I know its between B or E, but i can't decide between the two

2. The major factor limiting cell size is the
a. concentration of water in the cytoplasm.
b. need for energy.
c. presence of membrane-enclosed organelles. d. ratio of surface area to volume.
e. composition of the plasma membrane.

i'm completely lost for this one :(


3. When it says that cholorplasts/mitochondria has two membranes, does that mean that it has two layers of the phospholipid bilayer? and a eukaryotic cell usually one has one membrane right?

No microtubules present in prokaryotes:)
For 2 I would say B but not sure so if someone could correct me...
For q3 yes chloroplasts and mitochondria have 2 phospholipid bilayers
