I'm pretty sure it said to draw labelled diagrams...but I honestly was so shocked that they put that in there I didn't even revise that because I thought it wasn't part of the study design :/

The VCAA bio faq (http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/documents/vce/biology/biology-faqs.doc) really made no clear mention of it either.

Yeah that was a pretty unfair question imo

Agreed. Last session with one of my students I drew a polypeptide for them and they were like "do we need to know how to do that?". "Hell no"

If everyone struggled with the amino acid question, you really have nothing to worry about because it won't affect your result too much.

Hey for that pedigree question in short answer, why can't part b) (about the lilac feathers or whatever) include genders in the phenotypic/genotypic ratios?

Gender is irrelevant to this genetic cross question, as the gene for the colour is located on an autosome. So the different colours occur equally amongst males and females.

You won't be penalised if you included it.

What qualities should a tutor have?

I'm not very good at explaining things but I'd love to help next years Biology students at school.
