Hello I just had a question, what is the role of caspases in apoptosis and how could it result in huntington's disease?
Caspases are enzymes that cleave the cytoskeleton of a cell, resulting in it collapsing to form apoptotic bodies (blebs). We do not need to know details of huntingtons disease.

Caspases are enzymes that cleave specific proteins in organelles, nucleus and as well as the cytoskeleton of a cell, leading to the blebbing of a cell membrane. I'm not sure how it results in Huntingtons disease (we do not need to know this for VCAA exam) though.

You should have an answer booklet for it.

Also distributing copyrighted material - even in part - is illegal and against AN rules.

Hi, can someone pls help me out and tell me the inputs and outputs of cellular respiration (at glycolysis, krebe cycle and the etc) with exact numbers? Didn't think we needed to know exact numbers of them till now :(

Australopithecus were the first homonin genus to evolve. They were bipedal however they crouched over and had longer arms which they used for knuckle walking. I don't know how exactly but our narrower pelvis has made us stand more upright.

Don't worry, it's easy. The numbers are all 6/12 except ATP.

36ADP + 36Pi + 6O2 + C6H12O6 ----> 36ATP + 6CO2 + 6H2O

Write it out 5 times, go do something else and repeat. You'll memorise it in no time.

How does our pelvis helps us with bipedalism when compared to Australopithecus?

Our pelvis has a more bowl-like shape than Australopithecus, in which allows for an increased bicondylar angle between the vertical and femur, such that our centre of gravity is more in line with our feet than Australopithecus, thereby enabling for improved bipedal locomotion.

You have your formula a bit jumbled up there. It's cellular respiration so glucose goes on the left and carbon dioxide is a product

Oh the irony - I thought it looked a bit wrong. Thanks Eric, I have fixed it.

Sorry I dropped off today guys, I had my own exam.

Just wanted to wish you all luck tomorrow! As with every year I've hung around here, I've been really impressed by how much you know. I'm absolutely certain it will all be a good exam for you tomorrow—you guys rock :D
