Really? That's so dumb, ugh. Although it explains a lot about Perth I guess.

I'm just glad there was one for my sake ;)

I laughed when I read this, I mean imagine walking into a party and handing the host a consent letter first thing, but apparently it is the law!
http://www.health.vic.gov.au/aod/alcohol/alcohol-law.htm

It is the law, but I havent seen it in practise anywhere. First, I doubt whether most kids have parental permission to drink in the first place and second it just sounds ridiculous to implement.

Not having a go at aj, but the law itself

No I completely agree! It seems so trivial, I just know that since the legislation came in, I have been to several parties where you couldn't enter with alcohol unless you provided ID or a note!

Haha, I know right! I remember having to bring a note (since my friend hired a place) that my dad wrote LOL. I'm lucky that my parents trust me :)

Are those 18+ part
I haven't been to a great deal compared to all those "popular kids, but those that I have always had alcohol. We were all below 18. Usually if it was a party we brought our own - usually obtained via an older friend or sibling of someone. At gatherings, they usually have a slab or so, which everyone shares.

Not sure how legal the avove two are but oh well :P But yea, I know that alcohol consent legislation is there but personally have yet to see it in practice.

1. I rarely drink
2. I have snuck into bars a few times, drank too much the first time... never again. A drink here and there seemed harmless to me but I would always end up feeling shit. Obviously, my body was indicating that I should not be inducing alcohol. I'm abstaining from alcohol now and onwards, don't see what's so glamorous about drinking and getting wasted, I'd rather get wasted at home alone.
3. No, I haven't been drinking for long/frequently enough to judge that. I'd say prolonged drinking, in larger amounts, would lead to damage in the brain. I know a few people who drink on a regular basis, and they are all not very bright and have a beer belly developing  :P

Drank from about 16 onwards, reasonably regularly. Hit them pretty hard during Year 12 actually, but I don't think it affected my studies very much at all. Went out into the Melbourne CBD at least 10 times during Year 12. To be honest I almost think its part of the experience and I wouldn't have enjoyed my Year 12 as much without it.

Don't really think it affected me academically, mostly because I used my common sense - which was, don't leave last minute study for a SAC to a Sunday where you're hungover. It's all about organisation really. If you plan your time well enough, you can do whatever you like.

1. How much do you drink?
2. Did you ever drink U 18? If so, how much?
3. Do you think drinking has impacted on how "smart" you are?

I'm a social drinker, not too way till i'm drop dead. My parents knows it. I don't drink to make me smart, I only drink to socialize and have fun.

Last christmas my dad received a breathalyser from a colleague (AlcoSense Checkmate) instead of using it, he told my brother to use it whenever he's going to a party nightout. My brother is 25 now and driving. Cool dad! But he also told my brother "Never ever tell me that you've been pulled over, use your head before you drink!"

Same. Negatives outweigh the benefits
