Don't become complacent with matrices like I did, I lost majority of my ss to matrices. While the content may be simple, the questions vcaa throw at you will be at a different level.

I've only done about the first 5 chapters of core, will this be sufficient?

My school also completes the first module before core.
Instead of looking at the first module and going ahead with it, I just decided to go ahead with the core. At the moment, I've begun chapter 4 of the MQ textbook, which is the last for core I believe.
So far, no concept in the core has been even slightly difficult except for a few misunderstandings I've had with 1-2 topics.

I honestly think I should've done the first module, so yeah... That's my two cents...

I didn't do anything for Further over the summer break. The course is so tiny you don't need to anyway, unless you feel like getting ahead. You'll need to revise everything for SACs anyway, so it's not like you're making such headway. Unless they're awfully slow, in my experience you're best just sticking with your class' pace.
