My business teacher said to me that you cannot drop a mark on the exam if you want a 50.
I don't know how factual this is but it sounds right.

I definitely dropped at least a mark, and probably even around 2-3 (especially considering that I didn't get a Premier's award). However, I'm pretty sure someone else got full marks in MHS, and since I was ranked first, I probably received full marks for my SAC mark as a consequence.

I dropped approximately 3 marks on the exam, with full mark sacs and scored 48.
My sacs would have scaled down a couple of marks though, since I would have gotten my exam score as approximate sac score.

wah. i am probaly in the same situation. my cohort is relatively weak. 70-80 people do bm. about 10-15 get over 90. about 4-5 people including myself in the 95th percentile. guess i will aim not to lose a mark.

Yeah, my cohort was quite weak too. Approximately 75 students, only 5 scored over 40 I think. The next highest was 41.
However I'm sure that you can achieve a 50 with a good exam result! :) Your cohort seems stronger than mine was, and keep in mind that although I'm pretty sure it was around 3 marks lost, I could have lost more. It's kinda difficult to self mark BM, by the time solutions came out I'd forgotten what I'd written! :P

Good luck!

When you say 2-3 marks do you mean out of 60, out out of 120 once the two assessors have marked it?

Out of 60. I should've lost 2 marks on a HR question, but maybe 1 if the assessor was lenient. Then yeh, unless EVERYTHING else I did was perfect, I assume I would've lost at least 1 random mark on wording etc.

hey, i have the highest sac marks in the year level 92/100  for unit 3 and 90/100 for unit 4. The cohort is completely varied, some can be around the 20'3 or 30's but generally the mean is high 60's. How many marks in the exam can i lose in order to get a 40?

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/special-reports/business-management/story-e6frf8yo-1111115143294

Avakian, Varujan, Wellington Secondary College Mulgrave. . 47 . she probaly got full marks but the weak cohort dragged her sacs score down

another instance in our dux. candy cheng. idk how to spell it.

she slept in her exam as she finished early. she comes from china. probaly a beast at methods as it is. probaly got full marks but cohort dragged her down.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/special-reports/mathematical-methods/story-e6frf8rf-1111115144591

she received a 48. ask ian how beast she is

hence i believe 47 is the highest for bm last year due to our cohort being a dud. they were playing cards before the exams LOL! .

this year our cohort is slightly stronger but still a dud, people still get a 50% for bm. hence i don't think 50 is achievable, but i still want to try. thats why i stated 50 is likely impossible because i read as well as hearing from ian that the cohort screwed her up. probaly a 48/49 will be doable since we have a few major tanks.  the sky is the limit.

It's possible dude. Look at Mao his school was ranked 489th out of 511 schools with a media study score of 24, yet he received a 50 in Chemistry and equally insane scores.

Not to mention premier's award. It's definitely possible (mathematically anyway)

lol. our dux received full scores for methods, if not lost a mark. is that the reason why she received 48? . if so i must be wrong.

deepest apologies, but i still stick with what i believe for now. unless someone pulls out that 50 from my school.

They would have been an outlier. Full marks in SAC's do not get scaled if you score the highest exam mark as well. So if they didn't lose a mark like you say then they would have gotten a 50. Clearly they lost marks and are bullshitting you

Do you actually know those exam scores for a fact? Or are you just assuming. If she was ranked first in the school and did get those exam marks, there's no possible way that I can see that she wouldn't get a 50.
