Pat Rafter is Australia's best tennis player, goes to show the talent we can produce. We have very mediocre athletes in all sports expect AFL which is not global, but how many talented athletes do we have? We seem to produce athletes who don't have the heart, blue collar and determination to play at the elite level, this is why Bernard Tomic will NEVER make it, he doesn't work hard enough, has relied on talent his entire career, but talent only goes so far and this is where handwork needs to kick in. How many athletes are there from Australia who are actually franchise type athletes in their field? None. We have the AIS, the so called Australian institute of Sport, but yet they can't produce any quality players, back to tennis. Every year its the same thing! There will be one Australian tennis player who makes it passed the 1st round, and thats it. We host the Australian open which is one of 4 grand slams and we don't even have one player who can compete with the elite. Why do we even host a grand slam then?
