Is there any way we can check what blocks will be available for our subjects before registration actually opens?

It would be nice to sit down with a piece of paper and take my time planning it out before I actually jump online on the 3rd

Thank you. How do I use it?

Use the handbook to find the subject codes, search them up in the subjects tab and select semester 1. I found the list format the most user friendly. Make sure your browser does not block pop up windows and all the information you need will become available to you. :)

Good stuff i've got the hang of it, thanks again.

BUT damn... for microeconomics the list view lacks the description. That's not very helpful...

You can somewhat work out what's going on using the codes on the left of the 'description' column.

Yeah I think "L01" means lecture 1, "L02" means lecture 2 and "T01" means tutorial 1.

Yep, I think you're right. I had the same scenario with ITAL10001 (Italian 3). :)

Yes, absolutely. Particularly for tutorials, practicals and workshops there's limited space and resources available so it's important you get in early to get the sessions you want.

This is probably the most 'reliable' way but a much more simple and convenient way is to go to the handbook page for a subject (e.g. https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/view/2014/ECON20002) and hitting the hyperlinked word 'here' in the sentence "Timetable can be viewed by searching for this subject at http://sws.unimelb.edu.au or by viewing the timetable here"in the 'Commencement Date & Location' section.

Is it better to have tutes in between, after or before lectures?

Yea bro but I realized that I don't wanna be having 3 hour breaks inbetween subjects hence why I'm even bothering to plan this now (so on Monday we can hop on and grab the "perfect" timetable <3)

Can you talk me through it, this is really confusing :(

Can you talk me through it, this is really confusing :(

Step 1: refer to 2014 handbook for your course
Step 2: Identify which subjects you'll be doing in Sem 1
Step 3: go to the link provided by Stick on this thread
Step 4: click on "Subjects" tab in link
Step 5: Enter subject code for Search criteria
Step 6: click search
Step 7: Click Sem 1, All Day, and preferably use a List timetable
Step 8: Make sure you've clicked on the subject as well
Step 9: Click "View timetable". It'll pop up in  a new tab
Step 10: Do this for all your subjects in Sem 1
Step 11: Create a mock timetable from this info, by penciling onto a spare sheet of paper or something

You should fill in the lectures first on your mock timetable. Then arrange a time for the pracs/tutes/workshops.
