Is it worth purchasing *cough*? I've heard in the past that it's not worth getting texts that aren't prescribed but I'm not sure if it applies in this particular case. Thanks. :)

No idea but looks like a great Level 1 subject. What's your intended major?
2008 - 2010 | Bachelor of Production @ Victorian College of the Arts
2013 - 2015 | Bachelor of Science @ UoM (Bioengineering Systems)
2016 - 2017 | Master of Engineering (Biomedical) @ UoM

no one buys the textbook it is definitely not needed. all u need is the reader tht is published by the uni which is about 600 pages thick. From memory it was around $20-$30

Thanks for confirming that for me. The reader isn't mentioned in the handbook but since I'm taking this subject in semester 2 I won't stress about it just yet. :)

stats seems harder in 2nd semester!  :-\ you shouldve tried to enrol in 1st sem but anyway too late for that. yeah the handbook only shows the prescribed textbook (triola&triola from memory) but the reader printed out by the uni is more like a chem or bio workbook/manual so thats why it doesnt show up

The handbook is showing no prescribed text for me. Do you mean the recommended one?

I have to do it in second semester since I did Biology Units 3 & 4 in VCE (and we were told that our enrolment was going to be checked for this, and, if need be, altered to meet this requirement).

oh yeah sorry recommended textbooks then. the stats course is based around the book the uni prints out (all the lecture slides and content stems from it). how does doing bio 3&4 impact on whether u choose stats or maths  :o

Maybe it's something they're starting this year, but they emphasised to us that VCE Biology students needed to do MAST10016 in semester 1, while everyone else is to do MAST10011. :S

thats unfortunate because i think stats lecturer in semester 1 is better than semester 2 (subjective opinion) but assessment is slightly easier in semester 1. ok that makes sense since maths for biomed has 5-6 weeks of population genetics which will be easier to grasp for people who have done genetics in vce bio
