Pretty sure that's true. The guidelines say a 'bound book'.

For what it's worth I wouldn't recommend the textbook.

Yes, you are allowed to bring in one bound reference for both exams.

EDIT:  Here is the official website if you want it.  It's got all the prescriptions on what the "bound reference" is.  Although it says "2007", it's still applicable this year.

We had to get our bound references and calcs checked prior to the exam to get a sticker put onto them. Anything which didn't have this sticker on it would be confiscated. And yes, before getting the sticker, we'd all be subject to the much heard of 'shake test'. My friend also got a dose of the wall-bang test with his book.

speaking of maths,  does anyone know what happened to the students at MLC who had done methods CAS exams instead of normal last year?

This was the explanation letter the school sent to students after the exam:
Quote
VCE Unit 3/4 Mathematical Methods (CAS) Examination-Monday, 10 November 2008.

I am writing to inform you of a situation in today's Mathematical Methods (CAS) Examination 2. MLC students sat the Mathematical Methods examination, rather than the Mathematical Methods(CAS) examination.

The situation was immediately reporteted to VCAA by our VCE coordinator, Mr. VCE coordinator. The following course of action has been provided by the Manager of VCAA Examinations:

The MLC papers will be marked by CAS markers, as 80% of the paper is common between Maths Methods and Maths Methods(CAS).

From this common section of the paper, VCAA will determine the student's ability.

VCAA will use this statistical information to rank the students within the Mathematical Methods (CAS) cohort statewide.

I would like to reassure you that this process will ensure that MLC students will not be disadvantaged in any way. Please note that the students sat the correct paper for Examination 1 on Friday, 7 November.

Should you or your daugher wish to discuss this matter further, please call me on senior school office number.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs. Head of Senior School

By the nature of inferring results, I'd say people would have had to either been disadvantaged or advantaged in some way, but they'll never really know which.

hey um this is a different question um you know for further maths tests our teachers doesnt allow us to to bring formula cheat sheets so what i do is save all the important stuff on my Casio is that illegal i mean if your allowed to use the casio classpad then why not take advantage of its memory.
