Biology 3/4 bad first SAC, what now..?

Hello everyone,

So i got my first SAC result back a couple days ago and even though i was confident, it was not as i good as i hoped. I scored 75%, i had lost lost a lot of marks due to my prac having an error in it and my teacher said that my results were not in the range that he would allow and hence all the questions relating to my results were incorrect. I was just wondering if you could tell me, what i will have to do try and get somewhere near 45 for my study score? I was getting around 95% for biology in year 10 so i would really like to get this mark. At my school, JMSS, we are having 10 SACs instead of the normal 8 so will this mean that my score will have less of an impact on my over-all score? Also does going going to a selective school give any disadvantges towards my ATAR? I read somewhere that if everyone does well, i will score lower than what i would of in another school..

I just completed my second SAC yesterday and i just found out after talking with my firends that i had lost a careless mark due to me not reading a question problem, i'm really worried right now, i'm hoping to get at least 9% for this SAC but who knows what other mistakes i may have done. Will this make it impossible for me to get around a 45 study score even if i do well in my exams?

Will i be better of just trying to focus on my subjects for next year (as i'm in year 11) and not trying to get biology on my top? My other subjects are, English Language, Chemistry, Geogrpahy, Methods and Accounting.

Thank you,

Hey Raptor!

Look you've done 2 SACs now and you've got 8 more to redeem yourself plus the exam which is far more important than the SACs. It's possible to get 45 and even a 50 study score by doing extremely well in the exam A+.

Just study hard and smart and don't feel disheartened by your SAC scores. Look at it and improve on it. Move on and do better next time. (I got lower than average SAC scores but I didn't let them depress me. I just looked at my mistakes and moved on from there.) Trust me some people get some lower than average SAC scores and still get a 45+ study score due to having done well in the exam.

I had 10 SACs for bio as well last year. Yes it would mean that individual SAC marks would have less of an impact since there's more SACs.

I'm not sure about your other questions though.

Yeah I think you should definitely focus on your units 3&4 subject but don't neglect your 1/2s as well especially English Language (important bits), Chem and Methods.

Wait, sorry that didn't answer your question. Just focus on biology now.Who knows it could be part of your top 4.

Hope that helped! :)

Anyway you made me feel so much better, I honestly thought i was done for! I'm going to put my head down and study hard for my next assessments! Hopefully i can make up for my first 2 SACs like you said.

Thank you so much for the response i really appreciate it!

No problem. You're welcome!  :)  Study hard and smart yes but don't stress out. Keep calm and learn.
PM me if you need help with anything. (Well maybe not bio specifically, haha, I forgot most of what I've learnt, but for advice and other things. :) )

The SACs to JMSS are very hard, don't worry...

The VCAA set exams are apparently quite a bit easier.
