Cruisey subjects

Hey peeps,

Just thought I'd start a thread on relatively easy subjects for choosing electives. As a science undergrad with physics orientated units I'd like to take a break every now and then from the intense studying.

So far personally these subjects have been a real joy for me and are quite low-intensity: (and I say that with great confidence)

MTH2132 - Nature and beauty of Mathematics. A more creative and artsy approach to maths. Very interesting and Burkard is a funny kent.
ATS1347, 1348, 2800, 2801 -  Music Ensemble. Basically the Monash Choir.  A guaranteed HD if you have 90%+ attendance rate.
ASP1010 - Intro to Astronomy. Awesome subject, even more so if you are interested about space (who isn't?)
ASP1022 - Same as ASP1010
ASP2062 - Small step up from ASP1022
ATS2776 - More artsy and less scientific atmospheric studies. In other words less equations, a little more writing (and the writing is not that hard)
ATS2779 - Same as above
SCI3090 - I did this in Summer, relatively easy as long as you have a little idea of whats going on.

Now I know there's a unit reviews thread so I will write all about these subjects properly soon in that thread but in the meantime I hope someone else can continue this thread on cruisey units?

Perhaps it is obvious now but I am in the process of choosing an elective as my fifth subject as I only have 5 more to go so I'm hoping to overload this semester in order to graduate mid-year  ;D ;D ;D

No one? I guess the subject reviews thread will suffice for now, but once we get to over 400 subject reviews I figured having this easy subject shortlist would save time from browsing all those reviews. Perhaps people find this to be reduntant? Or maybe easy is subjective?

ATS1340 - English for Academic Purposes (http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/handbooks/units/ATS1340.html) Haven't done it but apparently pretty breezy if you're a native english speaker. The imrpoved skills will help you throughout your entire degree as well. Have not attempted this one myself.

SCI1020 - Some people might be prohibited from doing it depending on their units (?) but it's basic statistics. It assumes you did no highschool mathematics. A lot of it is just using excel (or so i'm told), i'm currently taking it right now and its been easy so far (albeit very boring).

BIO1011/1022 - Exam is all multiple choice. Should be decently easy enough for anyone who did VCE bio, can still be content heavy though, unless you like biology or need to do it, i wouldnt consider it a breezy unit.

ASP1022 - (Listed in yours too). Very interesting, decently easy. It's similar to some UoM style breadth subjects in that it covers heaps of things and has many guest lecturers (astrobiology, computer AI, evolution, etc). A great subject. Will be much easier if you've taken some kind of biology or astro prior to this unit (not hard in semester 2).

ATS1310: Extreme earth! Natural hazards and human vulnerability - All about geography (so how humans and the enviroment interact + more). You look at all kinds of natural disasters - flood, fire, earthquake, pandemics, etc. It's very interesting (who doesn't like volcanoes!?!) and the labs are usually either easy or fun and engaging (we played the boardgame Pandemic in one of them!).

Distance philosophy - You get to nominate the mark you want (up to D). IF you don't get it, you're entitled to try again after you receive your corrected assignment. I really love philosophy, so, i find it a bit hard to gage how others might view it. Most have one lecture a week, so, 12 hours represents all the lectures for the subject! If you don't like philosophy or your writing isn't the best, i can see how this might not be as breezy (still pretty breezy).

Ultimately, any subject you love will be way more cruisey than one you don't want to be there for as well. I took chem having no desire for chem and there's no surprise i did bad.

Yeh honestly can't remember too well about ASP2062 or anything I did pre-2012 but if I passed it then it was "easy". I say this with universal confidence because you won't easily another student that has failed 17 subjects  ;) ;)

No surprise the subjects you listed are first year units hehe. My markers for ASP1022/ASP2062 were so lentient!
