60% on the 1st SAC and my heart aches.

Got my first SAC back today and got 60%... Class average was 59% so I was just above...
I've been working harder than I ever have before, aiming to get at least 48 for the subject as it's my only 3/4 this year and a relatively easy subject. And when I got the result it was, to say the least, devastated.

My main problem was answering questions in the right manner, if that makes sense?

So really, I'm just wondering if there's any light at the end of the tunnel for me now? Can I still get the 48+ study score? Can I redeem what I stuffed up in this SAC later on? If I do really well in the exam will it really pull my SAC grades up?

Thanks!

It doesn't matter if you get that low on a SAC at a selective school IF you got above the class average (which you did). At selective schools, where the competition is high, your ranking is what truly matters. In terms of study score, I'd say anything is possible. Do well in the exam and you'll be fine (especially since you've got a strong cohort behind your back) c;

mate you go to MHS, SACs actually do not matter. Anything is still possible, the only thing you can do is to improve and go overs areas you're weak in.

For some perspective, one of my friends was ranked 70 out of 120 people in SACs for bio (that's the bottom 50%) and still got a 50. Obviously bio is different from HHD, but the cohort is still gonna be strong

In theory, yes, you can still do really well and get 48 or above. What counts is the ranking and then your end of year exam mark, so basically if you use the remaining SACs to pull up your ranking, then a 48 is definitely still possible when combined with a great exam score. So rest assured because the numbers or stats or whatever say it can happen (but don't actually rest)!

In practice, though, that'll probably mean a lot of work and improvement required on your part. It may sound simple to say that you'll just do well on the rest of the SACs and the exam, but you've really gotta think about how you'll do it, and start working on it. You said the main problem is the way you answer questions, so just do some practices and show your teacher (and us too, we're all willing to help!) and keep getting feedback and follow it until your answers are in the 'right manner' :)

It'll probably take a bit of time, but if the way you answer questions is your main problem, then fixing that should hopefully have you seeing much better results for your remaining SACs and the exam, since it's just one thing to work on overall, rather than if you had heaps of issues with content or different little things.

And yeah dude, select entry cohort can make things seem A LOT worse than they are with SAC scores and then you usually get a nice surprise after the exam :D

Guys I only doubled with Arts because I couldn't let go of Psych and wanted to keep doing it as a major at least, but I took International Studies on a whim after the info session just because I needed a minor, and I love it so much! It's 3:29am and I had to share this, I think I'm majoring in it bye.
