Hi,

I have my first sac coming up for revs,

we have to write six detailed reports on leaders, ideas, movements, events etc. using three or four points - this is what you have to do for the exam (q1&2) but I'm a bit unsure as to how to actually write it. Also one of the ideas I have to write on is Thomas Paine's common sense and how it contributed to a revolutionary situation, I know it used persuasive, clear and simple to understand language that was accessible to everyone and it contained many reasons as to why America should be independent of Britain. But I can't think of many other points

if someone could give me some pointers it would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm not familiar with this document but as for any document analysis, you should consider both context and content.

* Who was Thomas Paine?
* What was the political situation at the time he wrote this document?
* What ideas or arguments did the document contain? Discuss 3-4 specific ones.
* What impact did the document, its ideas and arguments have on the revolution?
* Did it influence any other documents or particular leaders, groups or actions?

You say that this document contained "many reasons" for American independence. In that case you should discuss some of those reasons and explain why they had a significant impact on others (third point above). Don't be afraid to link/compare to other revolutionary documents, especially similar ones.

Good luck.
