How did you prepare for the end of year exam?

Hi, for all of those who have already done Units 3/4 Biology last year, I was wondering how you studied/revised for the exam?

Did you just look over your summary notes/ do practice papers in the month or so before the exam, after your schools had finished the course. Was this enough time for you to remember everything?

Because although I'm only halfway into Unit 3, I'm finding there is quite a bit to remember and I wasn't sure if it was possible to retain all this information for the exam by looking over it just a month before the exam?

Should you continuously be revising chapters and reading your summary notes, throughout the year?
So that come end of the year, you will be able to remember everything?

Thanks !  :) any advice is much appreciated!

You should be doing papers throughout the year, and preferably at the completion of an area of study. For example, you finish photosynthesis/cellular respiration, try to compile a few questions that always show up on the exam in some way/shape/form. Always get your teacher to mark your answers and to explain to you where you've gone wrong and even get your peers to correct your work (if you're comfortable they know what they're talking about :p)

I know you've probably already been told, but repetition is the key in VCE. As for studying for your end of year exams after finishing the course, do every exam you feel is necessary open book until you feel comfortable doing them without notes. Finish as many as you can, and try to complete the exams within the given time limit. Constant revision of your notes should allow you to remember all the content that is required. Alternatively if you're having an extreme amount of trouble, consider techniques such as mnemonics and rhymes.

As I said before, repetition is the key! Good luck and study hard :)
