PHOTOSYNTHESIS SAC TOMORROW!!

Hey guys,
I have a photosynthesis sac tomorrow where we are using the elodea plant and placing it into pond water. There are four tubes two each for the two separate lighting conditions. Two tubes will be exposed to light and the other two will be wrapped in aluminium foil completely so no light enters. Anyway this is my hypothesis so far:

When the elodea water plant is placed in the tube which is exposed to light, the rate of photosynthesis will be higher in comparison to the tube which has the elodea plant inside and is covered by aluminium foil. This is because increased light intensity increases the rate of photosynthesis.

Am I missing anything?
Thanks

Maybe also note that the tube with the elodea plant inside that is covered by aluminium foil will have a slower rate of photosynthesis as light is needed for the photosynthesis to occur.

Yep could you also say instead of saying a slower rate of photosynthesis, an increased rate of cellular respiration?

I'm not the best biology student, so correct me if I'm missing something here.
But how could there be an increased rate of cellular respiration if there is a decreased rate of photosynthesis because that plant sample would be producing lesser amounts of glucose than the plant that is exposed to light, and don't plants use glucose in cellular respiration?

Sorry walkec you are indeed correct. If there is a decreased rate of photosynthesis, less glucose would be produced, thus reducing the rate of cellular respiration.

Thanks for that buddy!

you are actually incorrect, sorry. cellular respiration is independent of photosynthesis. providing all the inputs for cellular respiration are there it will take place, plants store glucose in the form of starch so the glucose from photosynthesis is not needed, its the same to say that plants still respire at night, but they do not photosynthesize. But this is only the case if the inputs are present, ie oxygen and glucose(which are outputs of photosynthesis but are also taken from elsewhere too.) however i do not know if there would be an increase in the rate of cellular respiration, i dont see why there would be.
