VCE subjects opinions? For entry into Law

So I want to get into either of these unis: Kings College London, Oxford, Cambridge, London School of Economics or University College London. The lowest ATAR score would therefore be a 97. Is this a good sequence for going into Law?

Legal Studies 1,2,3,4
Literature 1,2,3,4
History 1,2,3,4
French 1,2,3,4
Psychology 1,2,3,4

and for my sixth should I do:
Accounting,
Economics
or Maths?

Any other tips

In terms of knowledge? No VCE subject is going to help you for what you study in law. Not even legal studies. So pick subjects that you're good at and enjoy.

In terms of potential ATAR? Depends on your strengths and weaknesses. The LOTE, history and literature all scale up (IIRC) so that should put you in good stead. For your sixth subject, pick what you're interested in and what you think you would succeed at.

What nina said. No VCE subject will prepare you for law, although I suppose essay writing won't hurt.

Good luck on moving to the UK! Just something to keep in mind is that you're best-off learning law where you're planning to practice (if you plan to practice at all, however it's always good to keep that option open.)

Agree with above ninwa and Polonomial that there is no real VCE subject that prepares you for law, although legal studies is at ;east a very small introduction into some foundational concepts that are relevant to law (but not like studying law at all, and hardly necessary to do well in law).

That said, in my opinion there are probably some VCE subjects that, if you enjoy, increase the likelihood that you'd enjoy law as well. To me, those would be Literature, Philosophy, History, English and Economics (and probably in that order too). If you are drawn to the style of any of those subjects, particularly literature and philosophy, then there's a better chance you'll like law.

I really don't see the link between literature and law, sorry. I'd have dreaded the former. Philosophy, politics and economics, absolutely. Anything policy-related.

Mmm. I think the emphasis on deep analysis in literature might help you later with legal analysis. And literature students do read some more difficult literature in antiquated English, which might also help later with reading difficult judgments in antiquated English lol.

> disclaimer: did not do literature, but did read the AN literature study guide several times because I was editing it :p

From personal experience and in this order:
English language > economics > literature

Though really, it's up to your own personality and your propensity to enjoy a new subject.
