Getting a Methods raw of 40

I'm aiming for a Methods raw of 40 but as the year goes on, I feel like I have no hope. Before I say anything else, I have no tutor.

We've only done one SAC so far and I got 82% on that and that was about #3 ranking. We've done a lot of tests and I've ranged from 92-98%, ranked #1. But I think my class is just pretty stupid.

How hard is it to get a raw of 40 in Methods and how could there be a possibility of me actually getting it?

Did you complete any 3/4 studies in year 11?

Go get yourself a copy of Cambridge Checkpoints 3/4.

Generally 40+ students will knock those questions with around 90%+ accuracy. See how you go :)
45+ raw score guaranteed (or 100% refund) for 2022 Methods & Specialist (other subjects also available - classes for all) register now!

Also hiring excellent Methods, Chemistry, Physics, Biology + Specialist tutors with a passion for excellence - PM me!

We also now support Chemistry, Physics and Biology!

I do believe that checkpoints are a great source for practise! As they are literally derived from past exams. As you said generally 40+ students will knock those questions with around 90%+ accuracy. Would you consider the same for chemistry?

I'm doing chem 1/2 atm, and so have the 1/2 version.

I don't put much effort (admittedly I spend much more on english, methods, physics and chinese) and am still able to get around 90%+ atm.

To be honest, I don't think my current standard of working in chem is enough for a 40+ (judging from my brother who got around 40 and how much he worked). When I mean 90%+, it's probably more attributed to the very minimum you should be scoring on checkpoints to get a 40+!

It's still possible!
You can't expect to peak at this time in the year.
You are in a very  good position. Don't doubt yourself.

Many people well in the first SACs of the year... but as the year progresses a lot of people slack off. The methods sacs (esp application and analysis SACs) are reasonably more difficult, there will be more opportunities to differentiate yourself from your cohort.

Do questions regularly. One thing to really focus on (once you've knuckled down on knowing the material/ concepts) is accuracy and timing.

In sacs and exams, (if you have prepared extensively) the thing that will often trip you up is silly mistakes (units, reading question properly) and making sure you finish with enough time to check over your questions.

Best of luck!

I'd just like to thank everyone who replied. I completely forgot I even posted this and my raw 40 aims went down the drain when I did my last SAC, I absolutely flunked probability.
Also, the first exam didn't go too great for me... I'd be lucky to get a 35 out of it...

This is my year 11 subject, bad choice on my part..
