I might be able to help calculate your study score

Hey guys, today I got an app for my iPhone called Study Score Calculator. The app itself is free, but you have to pay for each subject you want unlocked ($1.29 each, so I'm glad people weren't creative with birthday presents last year and got me itunes vouchers). I have no clue how accurate it is and I am not suggesting you take its word as gospel, just focus on doing your best and use this for curiosity purposes. I don't want to disappoint anybody.

Anyhow, my point is that I personally think it would be a cool thing if I could help people out by predicting their study scores. I currently have Further Maths, Legal Studies, English and Health unlocked. I might get Literature if I decide I care about the subject enough. Anybody wondering what they might get? Just comment below your three predicted GAs (either in percentage or letter grade) and I'll get back to you as quickly as possible.

Also, this thread might be a cool place for people, if they can spare the $1.29, to unlock other subjects to help others out. Just a thought, since I have only have four right now, which is somewhat limiting.

Could you enter the same scores (GA1, GA2, Exam) into English, Legal Studies and Health and see what study scores it outputs? I'm just wondering how it does the calculations.

Also, it's worth noting that there are a quite a few stickied Study Score Prediction guides/services available in this subforum!

Atar calculator calculates your atar, not your study score :) It doesn't help you work out your study score based off your grades, which is what this thread is for.

I was aware of the other threads about the issue, but looking through them, they sometimes don't offer the specific information somebody might want (since it's based on what other people have gotten previously), whereas this would.

Haha, it is definitely a good thing I have too much itunes credit (god bless grandparents who don't know what to get you on birthdays an christmas, eh?). If the weighting is the same for GAs of subjects, the study score is the same, so unless there's a subject that has completely different weightings for exams and what not to other subjects, there's no point getting it.

You can't do it. You have no idea how your SACs will moderate. Anyone who claims otherwise is lying to you. This is a useless exercise. [/thread]

Hey now, I'm only trying to help. Of course SACs will be moderated, everybody knows that. But even having some vague idea can help some people. Also, from my understanding, the GAs 1 and 2 that you get on your statement of marks are your moderated SAC scores, and that's what I'm working with here. It's not perfect but hey, why not try anyway? It'll be interesting to see how the real scores match up at the end of the year.

This is fucked. For one, 96% on everything in Further would net you 47+,  (I'm assuming the app thinks your SACs are scaled already), and the C+ A A could DEFINITELY net under 35. Like what on Earth?

Edit: I'm not trying to put you down OP. I really appreciate the initiative :), but this app is obviously quite unreliable.

47 you say hmmm  8)

but yeah i sorta just put in numbers to test what the app said, C A A could vary wildly, if it gave a range that would be really good

Criticism accepted. Look, I did say at the beginning that I had no idea how reliable the app was. I thought that some people might appreciate it as a rough idea, because as far as accuracy goes for any study score calculator, it's incredibly ambiguous. Raging about it in the comments won't help.

(Not annoyed at you specifically, just feels as though trying to help is a stupid idea? And it shouldn't be, we're all just a bunch of losers trying to get through this year, let's just be supportive.)

Sorry if it came across as harsh, it wasn't meant as a dig at you at all. I'm just one of those who believe that if you want to do your best, you're (almost always) better off putting the time and effort into working than trying to predict your scores. :P It can lead to an unhealthy fixation.

I may have been misinterpreted. I was criticising you or anyone ITT. I was just letting people know that the app is unreliable so don't bank on it. The reason I know this is because I spent all of year 12 calculating study scores for myself lol. I think your OP is awesome and helpful, but "raging" about it in the comments will also be helpful to anyone who is aiming for 35 and thinks a c+, A A will guarantee it for them :)
