40+ study score regardless of sacs possible?

Hi all!

Just wondering, if I get 100% or 97%+ for the end of year exam will that guarantee a study score in the 40s regardless of class ranking and cohort strength ect?

If you're not in the top half of the cohort from SAC ranking, there is no chance in hell unless you bribe the examiners that you're going to get 100% on the final exam.

Honestly, just work hard and let your results speak for themselves. If you deserve a 40+ you will get it.

um lol I actually am near the top of all my subjects, I just wanted to get an idea of how much an exam mark can do to an overall study score even if my cohort isn't that strong

its quite unrealistic that someone who is in the bottom half of their class/or ranked low in a cohort not strong to get 97-100% on the end of year exam. Sorry.

My friends brother was last in his spesh cohort of 9 people and got 39 raw , going off that I guess it is possible ?

Yes you definitely can. Your exam score determines a lot of other things, keep working hard!

Of course its possible. But what i am trying to point out (not explicitly saying your bottom half or anything) say you have a person called John. John has been scoring really badly on SACs throughout the year and is a low rank in a weak cohort (note: weak cohorts usually mean easier sacs hence your sacs will be moderated down).

Now, im not having a go at anything and sorry if i sound arrogant/mean or anything, what is the chance of John getting a A+ on the exam when he has been struggling all year?

As long as you top 7-8, top 4 would be ideal -  in a weak cohort - and you smash the exam a really respectable score will generate.

Was he in a very strong cohort? i know someone who was Rank 29 for psychology at Melbourne High and he killed the exam and got 50 raw (as what i have heard)

Why start attacking the OP for being delusional when they say themselves they're top ranked.

Yeh OP, if you're at the top end of the rankings (i.e. top 3 or 4 in class of 20 or so at an average-ish school) and 97+% the final exam, however hard that is, you're probably in 45+ territory. Almost certainly over 40.

You could even have a chance for a 50 if you do that well (though in that range 1 or 2 marks on the exam can be significant, and SAC scaling plays a role).

That's pretty crazy. Rank 29-> S.S 50.
Maybe that might happen in psych but the best i've heard in methods is rank 35 --> S.S 48 after 1 mark lost on the exam

Generally what happens is that let's say person A gets Rank 1, he will then get the equivalent of Rank 1 on the examination translated to his SAC score.

Btw, I'm not trying to attack anyone, just stating my opinions on the issue , sorry if I sounded overly harsh

I've been wondering the same thing. My school does make sacs hard and we do have a strong cohort (I also go to a large school with around 200-ish students maybe even more, who take 3/4 methods for example), and I've been averaging around the middle compared to everyone else (I actually don't know what my ranking is, but I peeked at the teacher's sheet and I was around the middle-ish :p), but I looked at past papers and I seem to be able to do it all?

I'm not sure yet, but some people in my school have said they studied super hard for the exams and they ended up with 40+
