Hey guys!

I know it *is* the end of term 1 for you guys, so congrats on making it through was is really a third of year 12!

Make sure during the break you get some me-time (and potentially some chatime, if you're that way inclined; I've never personally had it, so I don't see the fuss :P) and relax a little*. :)

These holidays (and the rest of the year) will be over in a blink of an eye. Make the most of it! :)

*By a little, I don't mean not doing that ever-growing stack of homework you've promised that you'd do within the first few days and then you don't. ;)

german was pretty good ay
chem is a bit cooked tbh, I think everyone failed the practice sac except a few, oh well
physics is fun but i need to stop making dumb mistakes
eng lang is really fun but i gotta watch those anxiety attacks in the sacs
uni bio is great when i get to watch the lectures but when I don't it is a bit tricky

Term 1 pretty decent as I haven't gotten my last eng sac back, hopefully I can not be a drop kick next term and start churning out some results.

--

Great to hear it's going well for you guys :) make sure to give yourself some time in the holidays to relax, and remember, it's almost over!
Best of luck in term 2

How was your holidays guys?

I have three SACs this week so I was basically studying for these and pretty much just stressed out for term 2 because its apparently the worst term.

How's everyone feeling?

Also, if any of you guys are doing psych, what topic are you up to? We just started neural basis of learning and memory. Is this behind??

Woah three sacs that's super heavy, good luck with your studies!

Personally my holidays were great, a time to get back on top of my life is how I viewed them... Spent the whole first term trying to juggle sporting commitments (Training 7 days a week after school for three hours = A great way to fall behind) ..... So first day back at school today I walked in being ahead!

Feeling pretty good about the term, have short term goals set, my biggest one is to finish the methods coursework by the end of term.. I believe I can do it though.

What about you, did you enjoy your break? I don't study psych unfortunately ..

Holidays were good. Finished my bio guide, did lots of spesh, did not enough methods, kind of revised for the chem SAC today, finished all my English work, still have 20 pages of Latin to memorise.

I also have a feeling Term 2 is going to be the worst term since I only had 3 SACs last term.

In the same boat, I only had an English and Japanese sac, I I did the math and will have at least 7 this term..

Wow what sport do you play? Sounds very intense. I'm also trying to finish the methods course by the end of the term as well, it's gonna be tough though.

Oh wow where abouts in the course are you up to? What have you got left to go?

I rowed!! It's finished now, we had our national championships at the start of April, we came 8th in Australia and given our circumstances we were stoked with the outcome. So the training was worth it!!

I'm indulging in the 18 spare hours a week I have now though.

That's an amazing effort.

For methods and spesh and I'm doing chapter 9 so I'm going pretty well and I'm hoping by the end of the term 2 holidays I'll be done and ready for practice exams.

Woah that's pretty solid! I just finished chapter 9 in methods so we are relatively close! Our spesh teacher is jumping all over the joint at the moment, we started with vectors, went to circular functions, followed by complex numbers, now we are doing differentiation.

They've changed it so spesh/methods kind of overlap, I find it quite useful (:

Goodluck in your studies, will see you around the forums.

Yes, the overlap between spesh and methods is very handy, given they are both intense subjects.

Good luck to you as well

Does anyone else get IMMENSE parental pressure for the HSC this year? Some of my friends are so relaxed and tell me that their parents dont really care much, yet others receive pressure but always do well. I feel like i'm stuck in a rut... my results are either declining or stagnant. Does anyone have any tips on dealing with stress and constant parental pressure?

My parents are also fairly pressuring and I know they will be very disappointed if I get below 99 ATAR, although basically all my friends are in the same boat so we get through it together. The key to overcoming stress and pressure is to perform to the best of your ability by working hard and working smart. Refining your study techniques and allocating your time in a better fashion is the best way to improve results.

The stress is there definitely and I also feel like if I don't work hard my parents who have invested time and money into my education might not be too happy But what gets me through (i recommend you try it too :D) is mentally stepping back and looking at my life ahead. I usually think of it as looking back at the 'grand scheme of things'. The HSC is roughly 9 months of your entire life, yes it is important and yes obviously try your absolute best but honestly the HSC WILL not define you. From what people have told me (including alot of lecturers from ATAR notes) the HSC is 6 months of your life (i think Jack silove said this btw). If you don't get the ATAR that you need, you spend 6 months doing something else with a lower ATAR cutoff and you simply transfer.
Now I'm not saying don't try your best, ideally you want to get that 'ideal' ATAR on your first try, but don't sacrifice your health and mental well-being over a number. :)
