Do you guys also do practice exams? I am curious to know how people find time to mark them as well..? Like especially long exams that take like 2 and a half hours. Do you mark them straight after you do the question (like my friend), or do you also get your teacher to help mark them other than doing so yourself?

(sorry these might be some pretty stupid questions..)

Okay lol I'm probably one of the rare people who marks it right after doing it XD
I've been doing a few chem unit 3 and methods exams these holidays, and marking it right after :D
I did the same for bio last year (marked them right after I did them)

But yeah, I do agree, after doing a super long exam (like dem bio ones) the last thing you want to do is to mark them, but I guess marking them whilst the questions stay fresh in your mind helps (well, for me I prefer marking it right after so I know what I got wrong)

There's also this amazing excel sheet that the legendary Pi made, I lost the link to it but I'll try digging around in the forums if you want it :)

Hmmm I'm curious as to see what's the average number of practice exams that people do for each subject? Connect education recommends 10-25 for each subjects but not sure if that's a reliable source :P

Do as much as you need! I did about 12-15 for further, but like 25 for methods - that's what i felt like i needed :D - don't fall into that trap of believing that doing x number of papers will get u Y mark :P. I know people who did double (literally double) what i did for methods and triple what I did for further and they got a lower score -- but the bare minimum is all vcaa exams :D - you can score really well by just doing vcaa exams, or you can score well by doing 50 exams :D.

So what I like to do is I like to play some nice relaxing music, such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF-Rl5acQdA <-- this.

I watched this whole thing and I don't even regret it.

2015er here... In regards to practice exams, i began unit 3 ones (for sciences mainly) during the term 2 holidays and did them consistently throughout term 3, while for subjects that aren't split clearly into unit 3 or 4, I had a handful of papers (generally older dodgier ones) which I would do randomly when I had time, i.e. just do the questions I could do and leave the rest. This just helped me get used to the style of exam questions.
In regards to marking practice exams, particularly for chem and bio marking your own exams can be super helpful - reading the sample answers can really help shape your own answers especially for long worded questions. For me, my teachers weren't all too keen on marking exams so you can always swap with friends and give each other feedback.
And for the next few weeks before uni starts up again, I'd be happy to mark some bio/chem exams (I don't remember my other subjects that well sorry :( ) or just particular questions. Just PM me for my email :)
Have a good last few days of holidays :)

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks! The idea of making my own exams never crossed my mind, and yeah I think I might try the friends feedback suggestion :) My teachers are offering but I don't want to trouble them too much to be honest... or should I? ahaha

Okay lol I'm probably one of the rare people who marks it right after doing it XD

Oh I see, ahaha yeah I think if that's the case, it could be more beneficial to mark it straight away :) that's exactly what my friend said, "Because it is fresh in [her] mind" . But uh, what is the excel sheet thing?

Super helpful advice  ;D thank you! Because I've been pretty stressed about the number of practice exam papers I've done so far lately  :( especially when my teachers keep mentioning practice exams. It's nice to know some people aren't going hard out on them yet. ^-^

The excel sheet thing is basically a programmed excel sheet that calculates expected SS, exam score based on standard deviations/variance. It gives an indication of what you would get on a good day and on a bad day :). Send me a Pm if you want a copy :)

I have just been using Zealous' spread sheets for both methods and specialist exams. A nice design, however I removed the notes columns since i was gonna use a log book for mistakes and difficult questions.

Wishing you all the best for Term 3, guys!  You're slaughtering the year and before you know it you'll be the ones laughing malevolently at kindly and supportively encouraging next year's bunch.

Ngl, Term 3 is widely regarded as the hardest, most draining term.  August has this power of killing every drop of energy and motivation on earth (is murder a bannable offence on AN?  I'd really like to permaban the month of August).  Thing is - you're gonna kill August before it kills you.  Everyone else is going to have just the same struggles with Term 3 as you, but hey, they don't have AN to support them ;)

Just remember to keep fighting, believe in yourself, and look after yourself.  Y'all are going to smash it for AN, so good luck and remember that members of the AN fam are always here on the forum, by PM or on IRC if you ever need someone to vent to! :D
