So did you just ask to sit it and you were allowed to?
Can I start next year then?
Course you can, just apply via the website. You'll look pretty young tho but don't let any form of intimidation put you off. Registrations open December  ;) In your case, getting a headstart is great, but, even though I scored high I am not going to study more and (likely) get a higher score next year because then I don't think that I have naturally possessed the skills to become a doctor so I am looking elsewhere. GO for it, but keep in mind that the test is designed so that you don't study for it and it measures your natural ability, which would be idle when you are in year twelve  ;)

TheAspiringDoc,

I just checked but we may have some issue for you here  :(

You need photo id to sit the UMAT, and only these forms are accepted:

Current passport
Current photo-bearing driver's licence (learner’s permit, probationary or full licence)
Current photo-bearing Australian Keypass
Current photo-bearing Australian Proof of Age Card
Current photo-bearing New Zealand 18+ Card

Because I'm assuming you are under 18, and wouldn't have a drivers license, the only form of ID you could bring in from that list is a passport. I hope you have travelled overseas before, otherwise you might need to get a passport for the sakes of the UMAT haha

Actually someone clarify:- are stapled notes allowed as reference in SACs?

Yes!! Stapled notes are allowed for sacs, but for the exam it needs to be securely bound :D

Sorry for intruding , but thought I should mention that you can only do the UMAT when you are in year 12. Quote from ACER(from info booklet)  :
Quote
UMAT is available to any candidate whose educational level at the time of sitting the test is final year of secondary schooling or higher. Candidates registering for UMAT2016 should have already completed or plan to complete their final year of secondary schooling (Year 12 in Australia; Year 13 in New Zealand) in 2016. Students whose current educational level is Year 11 or lower are NOT eligible to take UMAT. This includes Year 11 students undertaking one or more Year 12 subjects. Year 12 students completing Year 12 over 2 years are only eligible to sit UMAT in their final year

And even if that were not the case, it is completely unnecessary and useless to do it in another year anyway. Wouldnotrecommend/10

TheAspiringDoc, great that you're super keen, but if I were you I wouldn't try and get the better of ACER.

You can sit the umat in year eleven, it's just that you can't use that UMAT for tertiary entrance as they only take the umat result done in your final year, so if you get 100%ile in year 11 and 1%ile in year 12, they'll take your 1%ile result. So it's pretty pointless and costly imo.

I'd say email ACER as this area seems a bit sketchy. Like Splash-Tackle-Flail said, it's kinda pointless, and I did it early so i could figure out where I was (78th percentile) so I figured medicine wasn't for me, so I now don't have to go through all of yr 12 with a vision only to find out that I'm not good enough haha. I think that's a really good reason to do it early  ;)

So I was filling out applications for a UMEP subjects and i'm unsure of the difference between VSN and Student Num (From VASS report)

The uni asks for my VCAA number in one place and VCAA student ID in a different place which ones is the VSN or Student Num

Well by laws of physics I guess you can do it, and people do (like callum), it's just that it's "against the rules".. It's honestly up to you to weigh up the pros and cons (and the cons definitely outweighs the pros).

Edit: for reference, although the consensus at my school is that the rule is quite poorly enforced (i guess this is supported by Callum's experience..), it does state:

"Candidates must be in at least their final year of secondary schooling, or above, to be eligible to sit UMAT i.e. they must be completing, or already have completed, Year 12 in 2012. Year 11 students or students completing Year 12 over 2 years are NOT permitted to sit UMAT. Candidates found to have sat UMAT in Year 11 will have their results cancelled and will not be allowed to sit UMAT again."

Do you really want to risk it?

So your VSN (or Victorian Student Number) is the number that you would have had throughout all of your schooling (at least for high school anyway, I believe), whilst your VCAA student ID would be your VCE number (and letter at the end).

So the VCAA number, I believe, would be your VSN, and VCAA student ID, would be your student number :)

I think I stuffed it up and only used my VCE number - how do I change it?
