Welcome, babushka818 :) Definitely not too late! I'm going to few open days this year. Will check out Deakin, Melbourne, Swinburne and La Trobe. Maybe Monash too but it falls on the same day as Swinburne and they haven't released their planner yet so I guess it depends on who offers what on the day/what's more interesting. What about you?

ah thank you Coffee :) Yeah that sucks that they're all around the same time, have to pick and choose! What is it that you're looking at doing in uni?
I'm really unsure as to what unis actually offer what I'm after, so I'm definitely checking out Monash, its kind of the top option in my family, my sister and dad are there right now. Otherwise I think I'll check out Deakin and RMIT, maybe La Trobe.. I'm not sure about Melbourne! I know its a top uni but my family doesn't really like the model.. its also really hard to get into and super competitive, that's why I like Monash, it seems more friendly if you know what I mean?

I'm looking at doing teaching/arts specialising in secondary education. Deakin University would be the best option for this, they're the most esteemed for teaching (No surprise there, they used to be a teaching college!) but I thought I might look at few other universities anyway and maybe a few other courses too. I went to Discover Deakin a few days ago though and I really like the campus, I definitely think it will suit me. So I will probably end up there. :P

Yeah, I definitely know what you mean. I've found some universities have this 'dark' vibe about them. Not sure if it's because they're so prestigious so they give off a bit of a 'snobbish' vibe? I've just found Deakin, Swinburne, and La Trobe have this welcoming, friendliness to them.

yes i am feeling the same way about my game. Hopefully as we put the effort in will will start to see the results!

10/10 choice in course, any idea in what area of science you'd want to look into?

Definitely something to do with chemistry :)

Good choice! How are you doing in bio this year?
Don't worry about scores that you can't change  because there are so many more productive things you could do

Oh my gosh that's awesome! My sister wanted to go into teaching, but mum pushed her to science.. My family is Indian in case it wasn't obvious! Deakin is definitely a good option for teaching! Is it a double degree? What was the Discover Deakin about?? I do the Monash Scholars Program and we were invited to the Inspiration Day, so I'm going to go to that.. It's really nice when you find a campus you feel at home at! I like Deakin, I'm just not too connected with the environment, I prefer Monash, but I haven't seen many other unis apart from those two. I do feel like I couldn't fit in at a prestigious uni because of that! That's mental you just put it in words! I find Monash quite friendly as well, just because it feels quite open but still comfortable if you know what I mean?

If anyone else is going to Monash Inspiration Day would anyone like to meet??  :)

It is! It's a double degree in teaching/arts. :) Discover Deakin is probably similar to Monash's Inspiration Day where you choose two sessions, learn about the campus, etc. I did enjoy it though. And I'm probably going to go to the Monash Inspiration Day as well, so I might see you there!

I'm was doing quite well for a while until I stuffed up one sac. All is well though! More motivation to do well in the rest of my sacs and the exam :) How about you?

Yeah I am doing alright, not as good as I wanted but still alright. My teachers a really harsh marker though so its hard to pull really good results. Hopefully I can get an a+ average on the next unit fingers crossed!!

Pretty good for my exams, bombed out a bit in Lit (but B+ is still pretty okay, I've been told numerous times that I'm not allowed to be upset) and made a couple of silly mistakes in Methods. So I could've done better but I'm mostly happy with what I got, which is nice  :)

That being said though, I'd kill a man for another week of holidays  ::)

I did fine...always room for improvement though!

In no way do you need to know with certainty what you want to do at university. I've changed my mind a couple times just since I stated what I wanted to do earlier on this thread! Just take note when a subject peaks your interest and you really enjoy it - perhaps it will become a good candidate for a future course. Or alternatively, have a look a really general courses (such as a double degree in arts/science) where you will be able to explore all your interests.
