Omg I've never been to Broadmeadows station and now I plan to never, ever head there unless I have to.

The worst I've had is being approached by some 14ish year old guy at Thomo station yielding a knife - not because he wanted to mug me, but he just wanted to show it off I guess? He proceeded to talk to me for the next 10 minutes about all the "thuggish" things he has done. Then the bus came. Good times.

Back at the start of 2014 there was a kid who tried to mug me while I was coming home from uni at around 9, but he pulled the knife at around Strathmore and we both stayed on the train till Broady, so we got to chatting (as you do with your friendly neighborhood juveniles) and it turned out his parents were forcing him through school so he could be the first of his siblings to complete it, even though he was... not an academic type, to put it mildly. Long story short, he needed a pass in English to make his parents happy, and so I ended up tutoring him in exchange for my wallet and phone back. He got a 43 in the end, and I was happier for him than I was for my own results. He's just finished his first year doing a human services and social work degree at La Trobe, so there's a story underneath the hood, sometimes.

That's beautiful Lauren! Gives me hope in humanity :')

I swear at times when I walk past these tough pre-teens, I don't even know which is more awkward, avoiding eye contact or making continuous eye contact and trying to make a humble/sympathetic/innocent/dont-hurt-me-bro-please face....

Like you can honestly feel their eyes preying you, like a lion stalking that deer, these guys stare at you with such glinting eyes, and you feel their heads rotate, their bodies still, as you walk past...

This is honestly such an interesting topic, specially if you've witnessed such a situation, like what are you meant to do...
aha um you guys gotta relax - maybe im a bit naive but not every kid out there wants to jump you
if it's during commercial hours, relax. - if you feel uncomfortable try not to go in the area around them. but honestly i dont think all of these people are  wildly violent. but defs if you feel like you're in danger walk fast, don't make eye contact and stay away from them!
Fuck you english your eyebrows aren't even good
Why walk when you can stand on the shoulders of giants?

Should be. Our VCE lectures are on the 14th and 15th with HSC ones straight after that, so we'll probably try and organise it sometime before that on a non-40°+ day :)
Haha i'm actually so pumped cos I will be in the city for tsfx lectures early jan (soz atarNotes but dad booked them way back) so it'll fit in perfectly

Seriously, if theres daylight, then you shouldn't have a problem there, so if you're legitimately worrying, don't!

But yeah still, keep alert, no guarantees! Just make sure you don't stare at anyone, head down and wear nike in case you need to pull a runner xD

Those kids sound easy to deal with

Treat them like sharks, just bop 'em on the nose, and walk away swiftly while they're still shocked  :P
