life is good for me at the moment (no SACs for the next 2 weeks lol), hope everybody is doing well!  :)

on a side note, is anybody planning on attending any of the seminars going on at monash at the moment?

Life is okay for my at the moment, got a japanese oral sac tomorrow and I had to memorise 6000 words for it though :-[
My sac week which is at the end of May is gonna be so hectic  :'(
12 SACs and one trial exam haha ......  :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X
(well i i guess our methods and spec ones are split into 4 sub SACs respectively :P)

Still, I'm not the most thrilled person on Earth  :P

The GAT is actually used as one of a few factors that contributes to the 'derived exam score' in the event that you need to apply for special consideration. You may not think you will need it now, but alot of things can happen between now and exam day.

I think to best safeguard yourself and achieve the best possible study score (regardless of any unavoidable circumstances that may occur later on in the year), it is best to take the GAT seriously and attempt it as you would any other test.

So it could affect my exam score but it isn't like "if you fail this test, you fail VCE" which is what everything else feels like. Which is why I love the GAT so much. In hindsight, I should've been clearer in my orig message.

No problem - it was more of a general post to all of the Year 12's on here because a common misconception is that the GAT means absolutely nothing (it does). It's just that most students don't require a derived score so in the end it doesn't apply to them. But if you're one of those unfortunate students who has to apply for it, then the GAT is somewhat meaningful.

Mmm the GAT is pretty fun though :D Especially like those cool logic pattern things   ;D
Also doesn't the GAT also have something to do with school ranking?

oh yeah Aaron I love your fallout 4 dp  ;)

Feel free to take a look at this link below to see how the GAT is used.

http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Pages/vce/exams/gat/relates.aspx

So evidently, there is more to the GAT than meets the eye. I really think everyone should take a look at this link and judge for themselves whether they should take it seriously (or not) :)

P.S - Thanks Elizawei!

the GAT is actually a little accurate though... my GAT scores and my study scores for the relevant subjects made sense ie. my English/humanities whatever it is was the highest, the maths part was the lowest and my 10% lol so really try your best because if something (hopefully nothing) goes wrong it's usually a good indicator of where you're at

obviously if you don't do "well" on it or whatever don't stress, it's not like you can study for it... please do not attempt to find a way to study for it haha

Like others here, I don't exactly advise studying for the GAT, but I do advise taking a look at the GAT paper so that you are comfortable with it, and that is would be no surprises to you when you come to doing the GAT as you'll know what to expect.

Also, familiarise yourself with the writing tasks. Hopefully, they picked a good topic, that you are willing to discuss. Last year, I had to do the GAT and didn't like one of the topics (it was about ceremonies... So boring). So I was pretty much bored for the whole half hour and written what basically entails a complaint about boring assemblies at school  ;D.

Aside. Don't try in the GAT, you lose your insurance in case anything happens to you.  ;)

On the topic of the GAT, sincerely i dont even know if its useful in determining how well versed you are in english/humanities/maths

I did english and literature and my english gat results were higher by 8 and 12 study scores respectively ( they give u a 'study score out of 50 for each section)

For the humanities section i scored 9 less than my actual history score

and for the maths section i scored 14 less than my further score

Bottom line is dont worry about it too much

Hands up if you're feeling personally victimised by your Methods SAC at the moment... I sure am!!
Today has been horrible. We sat the second part and it was legit the hardest SAC or assessment I've ever done. I stuffed it up completely. I guess the only consolation is that everyone in the Methods cohort agreed that it was awful haha

The questions were just so bloody difficult! For these ones, it was hard to work out what you had to do, and which information you had to use. Hard to explain. It was just one of those things where you read it and you see everyone's faces scrunching up and going like "omg what am I meant to do" or "wtf" etc etc. Honestly, nothing could prepare you for it.

Extended response is death. One of the problems is you either have a lightbulb moment and see exactly what you have to do or else you feel like you've been thrown into the deep ocean with no flotation devices or land in sight... (little bit dramatic there haha)

This all just capped off a really bad day. But on the bright side I got an A for my text response in English, so I'm happy about that :)

already had methods sac and it destroyed me. Cohort is about average , but my teacher is an examiner who apparently wrote some of the 2013 exam 2 q's( which i found difficult :( ) and yeah safe to say i found it quite hard... oh well! :D

anyone else having mood swings? i go from happy to sad every 10 minutes nowadays lmao! Need an ATAR of 84 to get into my course and based on my 3/4 score i should get it, but i swear, i oscillate between all my emotions so much xD super ambivalent, i know :P
(lel guys, my school told us today that we have mid year exams next week- -.-) T_T

I feel ya. But right now I'm at the stage where my most common mood is apathy...
Thankfully my school doesn't make us do mid years...it's just the year 9s, 10s and 11s that have to do them. Sucks for them lol.
But in a way, I have that many SACs at the moment it feels like exams haha

Does anyone here do Biology...and if so what topic are you guys on at the moment?
