Should I try the UMAT?

If i'm 100% sure I won't be touching anywhere in the medical field in uni, should I still do the UMAT?

Are there any other additional perceived benefits of doing so?

Thanks!

Here is a list of courses that require umat: http://umat.acer.edu.au/universities If I were you and i were 100% certain that i won't touch these courses, I won't do the UMAT. But if i were 99% certain with 1% maybe, I would take the UMAT because i might have a change of heart later of the year and without umat, you cannot apply to these courses.

Yeah, that's me atm. I'm probs goanna do it just to be on the safe side of not having any regrets later on in life. Plus, I like those types of tests anyway (:

Checking people out at the UMAT to find a hot doctor to marry ;)

Nah but seriously everyone's said what has been said so it's not worth the added stress in doing it (if you plan to do it properly and train for it even though you won't go into the health sector.

It doesn't necessarily have to be stressful for everyone; *some* (maybe very few) people may find doing such tests enjoyable...or just find themselves good at it. Alternatively, it's an opportunity nonetheless to try out your critical thinking skills in a realistic situation.

I was mainly referring to the case of hamo94 but yes there are the few exceptions who do find such tests enjoyable (I too find it enjoyable myself LOL). Though for the majority of people who do choose to do the UMAT, when it comes to the actual date and you're in exam conditions, things can get a bit more frantic and stress people out.

Going to give a slightly different opinion but when I signed up for the UMAT I was pretty sure I didn't want to do anything medical. But in Year 12 some things happened that made me realise that I'd actually really like the idea of medicine - probably a very emotional decision but anyway I ended up putting it on my preference list.

But to be honest I wasn't sure whether I should be doing medicine right until I officially accepted the offer - was honestly thinking of trying for a second round.

Right now I'm really happy I decided to do it :)

Just my story!
