I feel so traitorous posting here and I promise I'll go away soon buuuuuuuut... The applications for VCESS 2015 have opened!

I know a lot of AN-ers always turn up every year, I myself have been involved over the last couple of years and have really enjoyed it. I think VCESS does some fantastic work and they're always on the look out for high achievers, especially if you did some of the "rarer" subjects! I see it as my chance to give back to those less fortunate, but everyone has their own reasons :)

How competitive is it when it comes to more popular subjects? I'd like to volunteer for Biology Units 3 & 4 but I'd just like to know my chances (it won't stop me from applying but I'm only asking so I know what to expect). Thanks. :)

The more the merrier! More tutors they can have, the greater number of students they can take in. So it's a win-win situation. You have a very good chance :)

From experience they seem to look for keen teachers with decent academic records. I'm sure you tick both boxes with ease :)

Not really relevant in terms of the topic at hand but I'd thought I'd ask!
Do you guys know roughly when do applications open for people who want to attend VCESS?

Later this term (assuming it's Term 3? I have no idea where school is that these days haha), you can register interest now though http://umsu.unimelb.edu.au/jump-in/summerschool/enrol/

Oh wow what an initiative! I'll be so keen for this in about eight to nine years time! :D Keep up the good work guys! :)

Good to see that Monash (with vTextbook) isn't the only uni with good initiatives around town! :)

I guess I'll apply for biology and psychology. They better give us notes to work off of, because I never actually...took VCE biology...and the entire content of VCE psychology changed the year after I left, alongside scaling. Hahahaha.

I'm sorely tempted (for Biology and Environmental Science), but I think I'll wait until I a) have familiarised myself with the new Environmental Science study design and b) am not younger than a handful of the students.
