Transfer to Commerce Melbourne- slightly urgent!

Hey guys,

I am currently doing a commerce/law degree at Monash in my first year except im not quite sure law is for me and am looking to transfer straight into pure Bcom at Melbourne next year (i sadly missed dates foe mid year transfer)

I have an ATAR OF 99.1 and a WAM OF 86.5% after first semester. If you complete a full year of study, they mainly look at your full year tertiary scores to assess your transfer however if you have only completed 1 semester, they will look at both ATAR and WAM.

I was just wondering if i could ask for opinions as to whether i should take a Leave of absence this semester and wait for a Melbourne transfer so my ATAR can be considered or to keep studying this semester and risk my WAM being lower ifi do not to as well this semester.

Any help of details of past experience would be much appreciated!

Thank you

Hi,

I think you should complete the first year so then you can credit as many subjects as you can.
Since your average atm is 86.5 which is GREAT! (need ~75% average to transfer), you would have to do relatively bad to not get an offer.
When I say relatively bad I mean like ~63.5% average for your second semester.
If you keep on top of everything, you will easily get an offer.

Good luck :)

Agree with the above (and that's a great GPA, especially for law,) but I'd look into which courses can be credited, and if your law courses can count as breadth in your Melbourne degree (they probably can.) If you are absolutely sure you want to transfer to Melbourne, and you can't credit a course, I wouldn't take that course this semester.

PhD 2016-??? Melbourne
