'As iron has a low resistance, it would lead to large energy loss. As iron has a low resistance, it would lead to large energy loss. To minimise this loss , the iron core is constructed of layers of iron sand between thin layers of insulation. These layers, called laminations, significantly reduce the energy loss.

the topic im learning about is transformers. the above paragraph is about the iron core of a transformer.
isn't it the more resistance the more energy lost?

can someone please explain this part: 'As iron has a low resistance, it would lead to large energy loss'

I'm no expert but I agree wit you. Having a high resistance leads to more energy being lost, that's what I've always thought. Maybe its a typo

I can't tell you how many errors, typos and incorrect calculations I've seen in the heinmann chemistry textbook so this wouldn't surprised me.
